Says nothing about physical defence

“We reiterate that each European State is free to choose or change its security arrangements, including treaties of alliance, and no State can consider any part of Europe as its sphere of influence,” representatives from the three nations said in a joint statement provided by the UK Foreign, Common and Development Office.

The three countries will coordinate on cybersecurity, energy security, and countering disinformation, according to the statement

UK won't go into conflict with Russia over Ukraine, I doubt under Boris we will go into conflict with Russia over the Eastern NATO nations either if Russia calls the NATO bluff

Correct me if I'm wrong but what good would those reserves be if they can't raise money from them in the market? I think, and again can stand to be corrected, but sanctions would probably have minimal effect on the average russian but may really hit the elite of society. Which would be perfect for trying to snap them out of this path.
 
I don’t want a war, but it’s gonna be gutting to see Ukraine destroyed and thousands of innocent lives lost while we all sit and do nothing.
 
Biden definitely isn't disincentivizing Putin from invading - if anything setting the ground for a limited conflict yet again in the hope of containing something more disruptive.

Sadly there aren't many options really - the most effective ones all get messy:

-Stationing "peacekeeping" forces in Ukraine.
-Going to war with Russia.
-Building up forces along the borders of Belarus in a tit for tat style - you take Ukraine we take Belarus.

Or we magically find evidence that it was actually a BUK from Belarus under direct supervision of Lukashenko which brought down MH17 ;)
 
It’s mad to think that if Ukraine call up their reserve forces to fight, Wladimir Klitschko will go to war.

He could live like a king anywhere in the world, but instead he’s chose to potentially risk his life to defend his country. You can’t knock that.
 
Trump came close to imperilling Nato by genuinely raising the prospect of the US pulling out of it to his staff. Anyone who thinks he'd be good in any way shape or form during this needs their head looking at.

I can get the chaotic angle, but that is double-edged sword that really ought not to be near dangerous decisions.
 
If Putin goes all in with a full invasion, then I suppose sanctions will push Russia even closer to China. China will gobble up their oil on the cheap, they already buy it in yuan so any dollar sanctions will not affect their trade.

But then Putin has basically turned Russia into China's pet dog. Is being head strong over Ukraine worth that?
