You would have thought an AWACS plane would have had some warning.
Dunno if its true. But I saw the same posted in UKR telegram with a big fire
If they have, his has be friendly fire ....or f-16's are already operating with long range missiles of some description.

I'm no expert but isnt it flares for IR/thermal seeking and chaff for Radar seeking of which I believe Patriot are? Hopefully someone in the know can elaborate/correct me!
Then again you wouldnt likely see the chaff? only the flares, possible mixed load?

Looking where they have shot it down doesn’t make much sense, unless the Ukrainian’s have managed to strap a patriot battery to a boat, or they have got a few F16’s early
Never thought of the chaff, looking back it could have been that rather than flares but it's dark so will never know what deflected it.

It may have depleted its chaff and flares
Funny as ****, and if true that will leave massive holes in the air defence coverage and early warning, this could actually be a preemptive operation to a coming offensive with newly deployed F16’s

At this point it wouldn't be a shock to learn Ukraine are already operating F-16s and have been for a few weeks.
