State of emergency

In Ukraine, the state of emergency could restrict the freedom of movement of conscripted reservists, according to a draft text reported by the Reuters news agency and still awaiting parliamentary approval.

It could also see curbs imposed on the media and lead to personal document checks.

The restrictions would come into force from Thursday. They would last 30 days and could be extended for another 30 days.

Army reservists aged 18-60 are also being conscripted following a decree by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Civilians will be given the right to carry firearms and defend themselves after the country's parliament voted in favour of the measure.

Switzerland says it won’t impose sanctions on Russia over Ukraine – for now.

Government ministers met today and condemned Russia’s recognition of Donetsk and Luhansk as a violation of international law, and promised to make sure Switzerland could not be used as a platform to get round EU sanctions.

But they stopped short of announcing sanctions of their own.

Russia is an important business partner for Switzerland. The Nord Stream consortium building gas pipelines from Russia to Europe has its headquarters in the Swiss town of Zug. Russian company Gazprom, which will fill the pipes, has an office there too.

Pressure from Brussels could make this neutral non-EU member change its mind.

"Ya, we like Oligarch money.. it sits along side the Soviet and Nazi gold we hold.."

Are you going to work for £10 a day in a cotton factory or any factory for that matter? Our business owners moved manufacturing abroad because if they didn't they'd go out of business. Unless you are happy to live in a world where we have tariffs that are so high they pretty much kill global trade and so your choice of product is basically the crap your country can produce (see UK car industry in the 70s-80s)

The problem is we've allowed ourselves to become dependant on counties like Russia for energy. We'll likely pay a heavy price for that decision.

I think it has to be balanced by how many more people would be employed. Millions of people aren't built for office jobs. They like to work with their hands. Because there are hardly any manual jobs, compared to decades ago, those people mostly sit on job seekers allowance.

Also there seems to be a trend in some western countries, Germany is a prime example, on the one hand talking about green energy, being carbon neutral, yet on the other hand just importing all the fossil fuels they used to make themselves. It's an illusional trick on the people.

I'm not saying everything needs to be built in a host country. But the basic systems for keeping the country running does. Through the greed of cheap prices we've allowed ourselves to be at the mercy of other countries who have used the system for themselves. The next big issue is going to be precious metals which China seem to be claiming, and all the microchip shortage problems.

Sooner or later there is going to have to be a war with Russia and China because they have become too powerful and can't be controlled. Unless they can be brought back in to the fold.

I would rather have avoided wars with Russia and China. But the way things are going thats the eventual path, at the moment, we're heading down.

Before you get too patriotic, JET stands for Joint European Torus.

"The JET facilities are collectively used by all European fusion laboratories under the EUROfusion consortium. About 350 scientists from EU countries (plus Switzerland, the UK and Ukraine), and more from around the globe, participate in JET experiments each year. CCFE is responsible for operating the facility for fusion researchers and for maintaining and upgrading it. This work is carried out under a contract between the European Commission and the UK Atomic Energy Authority (CCFE’s operator). This funds around 400 engineers and technical staff essential for operating and maintaining the device."

It's up everyday almost now, it's not always on ADSB, sometimes it goes off radar & it changes its transponder code pretty often.
Sometimes see it show up as 00000000, LVS052, XCCRM, XCCRM, GRYHK01, FORTE10, FORTE11, FORTE12.
But the lists goes on, it's usually always at 52000ft-56000ft, that's a pretty easy way to identify it.

There is at least 2 RQ-4s operating, out of Crete and Sicily - both FORTE11 and 12 are in the sky currently. Which to me is somewhat ominous as overlapping persistent coverage is what I'd expect to see in the last 24 hours before more significant action.

Some say there is also a NATO RQ-4 operating as well - I don't know the intimate details on what is operating or bothered to look into it in depth.

FORTE11 often changes to AAAAAA for some reason as well not sure why.

Some curious air movements tonight as well including Canadian maritime patrol aircraft heading over the UK.

Where do you get this from?
The simple reality is that many people do not want manufacturing jobs, they have been convinced to get "better" jobs
We pay more than double the average wage for our factory operatives and struggle to get people to apply.

The majority of our workforce were Brits until 6 years or so ago, most having been there years. Basically pay is good, no one leaves.
When we started needing more though almost all are non Brits applying, and the few Brits we have taken on have been nigh on useless.

No idea on that - they are also broadcasting correctly tonight - maybe as a visibility thing but I doubt it has much deterrent value.

I noticed the other day, there is a hell of a lot of traffic that doesn't show on the latter website but is showing on the former. Both civilian and military.

Well, I've just done a panic shop before the masses descend. Several kilos of pasta and rice and a stack of tinned food.

Might fill the bath up with petrol tomorrow, just to be on the safe side.
