though thats the thing nato cannot conceed, if it did others would be next upto the block, for the moment putin is only after ukraine, but we know he harks back to the soviet era, he wants the might of the soviet block again. he doesnt seem to understand the world has moved on from those days.

That's the hope that NATO don't concede, but I just don't think France and Germany have got any fight in them. Plus there's the potential conflict of interest between EU and USA that could stretch loyalties.

In our hour of need we can probably only rely on the same countries we went into Iraq back in 2003, namely USA, Poland and Australia.

Gas is a problem yes, however financially Russia is basically a nothing burger quite frankly, our economy dwarfs it, debt depending how its leveraged isn't necessary a bad thing, and relations to China are an unknown, China would have more to lose siding with Russia.

Russia is relatively poor for its size, has bad relations with the vast majority of the world with not many people it can call friends, those who it can are also nothing on the world stage.

If history has taught us and indeed various nations militaries one thing, its never underestimate Russia.

not really, it would hurt but countries that produce oil n gas have stated it would help, only other day japan offered gas to the eu if needed, though prices would sky rocket on the markets

Russia sells a lot of gas to China too, that will keep them afloat for a while, Europe what will do? Buy expensive shale gas /LNG from the US? Biden said it yesetrday, freedom aint cheap!

We've gotten in to the problem because of uncontrolled globalism and capitalism. Sold our industries off for cheap slavery wages in other parts of the world i.e. India and China. My town used to be the cotton capital of the world until the owners shut them all down.

We need to build back our manufacturing base so we have something to offer the rest of the world. Otherwise we have nothing and are open to being pressured by other countries.

No one’s really being pressured though. I mean European countries have the ability to be pushed around as do we. Compared to Russia and China we are little pipsqueaks who in many years gone by used to control and dominate others much bigger than us.

Now it’s just the U.S out on its own, we’re like that little kid who act hard when his bigger American brother is around. We’re bullies and we have a long, long history of doing so. Problem is Russia and China are not as afraid as the others because they can actually fight back.

50% of German Gas is Russian, if Russia turned off the pipeline the wholesale price would go through the roof which wouldn't only effect Germany but Europe as countries grapple to source new supply
