Maybe.

I just think its far more likely that both sides claims are lies, every conflict in history has both sides making stuff up in order to bolster morale or make it seem like everything is going to plan etc, I see no reason at this point to think that either of these sides claims are anything different to that. Again, as I mentioned earlier, I dont simply automatically believe everything I read online as being truth. I'm rather more cynical than that, especially when its a matter of what one side is saying they did in a war.

I assume so, I guess he means make Ukraine a no fly zone to anyone, so neither side would have air superiority as neither side would have aircraft over the country

My other half is Ukrainian, her parents live in a small town between Lviv and the Polish boarder. They've said they have no intention of leaving Ukraine in the wake of an invasion.

You can’t! If they try to take a big chunk of territory and end up facing an insurgency then they’ll have some serious problems.
