I'm not getting involved, but if you head over it sounds like Ukraine will give you a gun.so are we going to just let him get on with it then ?

Most lefties believe in mutual disarmament not unilateral. We also believe in peace treaties and strong alliances like NATO and the EU.

they?
IMO sanctions are a two way street. Everything the russians can't buy is money that you (the nations) won't get.Inexpert analysis :
Sanctions won't work: Russian retaliation would be more painful and harder to bear for Europe than the sanctions placed on Russia.
Choices for the West, broadly, are 1- abandon Ukraine (provide humanitarian support, of course), 2- support insurgency in Ukraine, 3- full-scale war. Seems likely that only the first of those wouldn't result in huge loss of life and lengthy disruption. I think that's the calculation Putin has made.
Anyone in this country opposed to us having or developing future nuclear deterrents.
The error in that thinking is trusting your possible foes to actually do what they say. You trust Putin or alike to actually destroy their WoMD. As usual it's fantasy logic from the left based on somehow if you do good others will also act in good faith.
Those Russian troops lose that fight they're toast, cut off. Take it and the Russians can get plane loads of troops in under cover of darkness tonight.
Absolutely not! Just look at what Macron has come out and said:so are we going to just let him get on with it then ?
That’s more sensible. The west doesn’t really care about Ukraine, certainty not the US who are the driving force of western politics. It will have been calculating and assessing how to benefit in the best way.The west will breathe a sigh of relief if putin stops at ukraine. Even if he annexs the whole thing.
If he leaves power (dies) with that end result.
I'll call It a win vs the alternative.
Absolutely not! Just look at what Macron has come out and said:
"In a televised address to the nation, he says France will stand by Ukraine's side."

I am sure Putin is several steps ahead and foresaw sanctions. He also knows how dependent the West is on Russian oil.
Talking about it on Politics Live and they think Russia has built up enough funds to counter the effect of sanctions for 2 years. They also control oil, gas and wheat exports which can make life even more expensive in the west.
Putin might be mad but he's been planning this for a long time.
