Reading an article in the Guardian, Russia does not stand a chance in the medium term. So far Putin has been able to mask shortcomings in the economy with high oil prices. Imports though have plummeted through sanctions and Russia cannot obtain technology and other components to support its industries.
More importantly NATO is a $40tn grouping spending about 2% on defence industry. Russia is a 1.7tn economy which is declining and does not stand a chance of competing in the worlds economies.

I'm not convinced that lorry was responsible for this no matter what Russia says. An explosion from under the bridge would likely cause that kind of damage. How did a lorry full of explosives get past their checks? You think they are scanning every lorry that crosses.
The span that collapsed looks that it's been blown upwards ie from below.

longer term Russia is screwed. Sanctions tend to.tske.time.to have an impact. Less access to technology or technical parts, especially machines used to create complex parts means take some years to impact but down the road has a high cost. If a machine goes wrong you can often sabotage one for parts with only a small drop in productivity. But as time goes on you sabotage more and more and production plumits. Trying to create your own parts takes a long time and a lot of investment, and will often have their own supply chain issues. all the time you just keep lagging behind the west technology wise.

Or simply because they aren't hindered by thousands of safety rules?
Notice we see a video of two cars....that's it.

No lorry's, no large volume of cars, if they wanted to show us they had it up and running in any meaningful way, surely they would have filmed all that.

Might have well as got a kid on a bicycle to go across and claim it's all open.

I reckon it was this:

I wonder how "usable" the bridge really is, the Russkis have probably cable tied it back together.

Can you imagine the first train driver that has to cross it, "don't worry comrade, there is a new washing machine ands fridge freezer waiting for you on the other side."

10 minutes from the end, it's not the greatest of movies. But the news reports in the movie sound similar to today, NATO encroaching on Russian borders yada yada yada. Basically same BS different century.

Mad respect for this lad.

A 1980s movie with Russians having a military exercise on a border and then invasion. Also the mass panic in supermarkets like covid. Never seen it before, but interesting so far.

I'd recommend Threads. That was very horrible indeed.

Yeah these two are decent although I've always found Threads more harrowing probably because its UK based.
There's also another one By Dawn's Early Light which I think is on YouTube as well its pretty good

Been reading reports that youtube have been de-monetising all YT creators who have been covering the war, even those like Perun who went out of their way not to sensationalise or show tasteless content.

There seems to be an issue with many sites. Gamers Nexus has been hit.
