Not convinced it is him, other than the beard. I haven't watched the video, but was he using a weapon? I thought he was just a blogger and not a fighter?

Would explain the complete lack of awareness, I've seen some images side by side of more recent shots of him and they do look very similar but the footage of the actual trench assault isnt the most clear, clearly a ginger bearded larger set fella that looked similar in appearance. I think I am what you could call skeptically hopeful, but until there is more reliable sources I will remain skeptical.

To put what Grim is saying into visual perspective, here's a video by a top DCS (a combat flight simulator) channel.

TLDR: They modelled a clash between the legacy F/A-18 Hornets that Australia have offered Ukraine against some Su-35's and the Hornets got massacred because by the time they got in radar range to fire on the Su's they were already having to dodge incoming missiles (and they sucked at dodging). Then they modelled the same clash using new Super Hornets and they massacred the Su's because the advantage was reversed.

There wont be any dogfighting taking place jets are air to ground missile launching platforms.

Dogfights are a thing of the past and only for movies or video games entertainment.

I don't think is true. Both sides will want to use jets for close air support, which will mean staying low and using terrain to avoid AA, there's definitely a chance of jets getting into close quarters with each other.

Don't think this is talking about dog fights, rather using their weapons at the max stand off distances the aircraft will allow?!

There were definitely dogfights early in the war though?

Only because Ukraine wasn't prepared to an immediate start to the conflict so when Russian planes entered Ukraine they were able to fly 300km behind the front line, and when in Kyiv the Ukrainian migs took to the sky, Russian sukhois were already above them.

That's the kind of one off event that only happens when you take the enemy by surprise; the war is long past those days. Neither planes can get within 50km of eachother these days because both sides fly behind their front lines only and air defenses will shoot eachother down if they cross.

This isn't WW2; planes are very expensive so both sides don't have enough and missile air defense systems are far, far more effective then kinetic anti air guns of WW2. In combination this means planes are easy to shoot down and it's too expensive to build so you can't just throw many planes to overwhelm the enemy defenses like you could in WW2.

If AFU took the trench then why are Russian peeps saying he is non-reponsive in hospital? Wouldn't AFU have him?
If it was him? Still a big IF! Then thats what confuses me and causes skepticism! I can only guess if the narrative is indeed correct and this was indeed Ukrainian SF, it must have been a smash and dash, in and out job. Not there to hold ground just disrupt and cause mayhem.

The video the ukranians posted is cut short, there is no way to tell if they captured the trench or not, perhaps the reason the video is cut is because shortly after they had to fall back
