I ordered mine on the 2nd Jan and it still hasn't come :( I know just over a week is not that long, stuff may have been out of stock and what not (although when I ordered the site said it was all in stock), but they said 24-48 hours! :D I hate waiting, it sucks.

Never mind though, its got to come sometime this week, hope you enjoy it, I know I will.

I'm not saying it wont come before the weekend. My order has changed from in warehouse queue to printed in warehouse. Not too sure what that means though? I'd ring them up and ask when you would get it, at least you would know everything is in stock ready to build (rather than looking at the online stock checker).

I rang last thursday to check and the lady came back to me and said they were waiting on parts. I looked online and the mouse I had ordered and memory were out of stock, they were back in stock by Saturday. She seemed to think it would be here this week.

If you want a similar spec pre built I was looking at getting a ASUS G50VT for £1000 - £1200, which has C2D P8600, 9800m GT graphics, 4 gb ddr 3, 320 gb hdd, blu-ray. When I was looking over Christmas I couldn't find any places where it was in stock, though a lot of online UK distributors listed it. That and didn't fancy having a WXGA screen. If you dont mind the screen res then that is one amazing deal.

The asus G50VT has the 9800GS which is basically the GTS running at lower clocks. The card to have with Ultima Mobile is the 9800 GT as it has 92 shaders vs 64 with the GTS. Sadly Nvidia stopped making the GT a few months ago.

Hope you get your laptop soon! I'll be getting one soon... has to travel all the way to Australia first :D

Got mine today, seems pretty good, although I cant find any blu-ray player software. I seen most of these laptops come with PowerDvd 8, but I didn't get a disk for this. Its not on the utilities disk either.

Are they meant to come with it or do I have to go and buy the full version??!?

Got basically the same laptop but with a 9800m gt and a x9100 cpu else were!

Loving the laptop only problem I have is getting the Bluetooth to start when I turn on the laptop. Right now I have to keep enabling it. My MSI Wind saves what I have enabled but can't get it to enabled my Bluetooth and disabled the webcam on boot!

I had to get a copy of powerdvd to play blurays on mine! I thought they would come with the required software as well

I received my Ultima on Thursday, absolutely love it. Only one problem which I hope someone can spread some light on.

I used it for a large part of the day today, from 10 until 6, mainly doing revision work for my upcoming exams but also playing some PES 2009. I've got HDDThermometer installed to moniter the temp of the hard drive (in my case the 160gb 5400rpm Fujitsu), and at around 6 it ticked over into the 50 degrees for the first time since Thursday, displaying a warning message. So, I decided I'd better let it cool down so shut down as usual, took out the power lead, and headed downstairs. Came back up 2 hours later, switched it on to be met with BEEEEEP blasting from the case. I turned it off and tried again - same result. It was incredibly loud and as constant as a police siren.

At this point I took out the power lead, and all of my USB components, and tried it again. Low and behold, it worked. It booted up quickly as usual and seemed perfectly normal. The current temp of the HD is a normal 45 degrees, and everything appears fine.

So, does anyone know what caused the beeping? And why it appeared to fix itself once I unplugged everything?

The hard drive temperatures you have quoted are not unusually high for a laptop especially after extended use. No idea about the 'beep' but removing the usb components was most likely coincidence since you did not reproduce the fault with them plugged back in. You can reduce the hard drive temperatures a little by installing the latest Intel matrix storage drivers as others have described in this thread.

Intel(R) 5300 ABGN - About every 60 seconds I'm getting lag spikes! Tried the Vista-Anti Lag and some other software, both don't work.

Any way to fix this?

Do you have the newest drivers for the 5300? I had lag spikes in Left4Dead, updating the drivers seems to have removed them.
