How many kids do you have in your huge mansion?
We often try to make the world better for our children, but according to something posted on PJW twitter a couple of weeks ago there are an awful lot of European leaders who have no children (May/Merkel/Macron/Junker/Sturgeon), and as such have no skin in the game so why should they care?
I never used to think the kids thing made any difference, but now I am changing my mind. So many of the leaders are childless, and it does make me wonder if their sheer narcissism and lack of familial values is playing a part in the shocking policy making.
How could Angela Merkel look a father of a raped and murdered 14/15 yr old German girl in the eye? How could she live with that?
Quite comfortably it seems.
Well if that's true then I'm really confused about May's stance on immigration given that she is adamant that she allegedly wants to end freedom of movement from the EU and curb immigration overall. Surely this is at odds with the Tory pledge of reducing immigration (which she did naff all about in the Home Office anyways) so why make things more difficult to deal with by signing the compact? You’re all wasting your breath, the UK has already confirmed they will be signing it.
...probably part of the amazing deal she's brought back from the EU.Well if that's true then I'm really confused about May's stance on immigration given that she is adamant that she allegedly wants to end freedom of movement from the EU and immigration overall. Because she's a liar, she lies about the police, she lies about her achievements, she lies about Tory agendas that are not based in evidence, she lies about immigration and she lies about he Home Office.
Don't expect anything other than smug "I'm a Prime minister now" from this anachronism.
Agreed. I blame both Labour and the Tories for it. They opened the door to greater immigration and simultaneously cut budgets to key services. People are utterly fed up with it now. Brexit, a backlash over immigration and a general swing to the right are the, very predictable, results. If she hadn't decimated the police and had actually done something to address peoples' concerns over immigration years back then I reckon we wouldn't be enduring this total shower right now.![]()

I'm talking about many of the population in the UK and across Europe swinging to the right politically. Corbyn may well be the next PM (God help us). But that's because the Conservatives have self imploded.Swing to the right? Corbyn will be the next PM...
It won't happen, if it did the UK military would instigate a coup d'état.Swing to the right? Corbyn will be the next PM...

If that happens, the swing of the pendulum back the other way would be much larger, I reckon. Scary.
That had never occurred to me before. But you're right. I'd assumed the current state of political parties was mainly due to an overwhelming number of them being career politicians with little real life experience. But now you point it out, you're right that many of them also don't have children. They are less likely to want to improve tomorrow for the benefit of their children and society and may be influenced more by what they can gain right now. Good point.
