Unlock your ATI 6950 to a 6970 Thread

I'm sorry for missing out the "s" x2.:)
Still as I had mentioned 6950CF and was talking about 6950s, flashed to 6970s in CF that it may have made sense.;)

And I'm sorry I didn't see your last post when talking about the Crossfire. :)

It's all good in the hood again.

Now I just need a reply back from OCuK to ask if I'm better to refuse the 5850 when it comes but I don't know if I can as my DDR3 is in there also but I can just re-order if that's the case. I've never done a DSR before plus I've not even received my package so I'm lost to what to do. I'll be ordering an i3, motherboard and 6950 as soon as I get the funds back but hoping the turnaround will be quick. I'm skint for 3 weeks and I want the PC now rather than waiting for sandy bridge.

I think I pooped myself as my rig just hung when I tried the flash. Restarted the power and its working ok. Might wait and see how others get on before trying it again..................

I cant believe it took so long for people to work this out... PCB was the key from ref pics before the cards were even released. Got to love AMD :)

Mine did, so I used the cmd route rather than windows flash. Your card is fine don't worry :).

A quick google found other forums discussing this flash (I found posts by Easyrider too :p) and it seems that this flash does not sort out the power levels - The 6950 has the same CCC power even when flashed. Therefore it must be upped to +20% or in certain benchmarks it will not be running as fast as it could.

Perhaps the memory on the 6950 is not the same as the 6870. My 6970 bios works fine but if I up the power it does not. hmmmm....

Cheers, tried to flash it via the CMD and its worked.
