**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

30,000 miles tread wear life expected? Pretty decent.

Also, gonna be stroking our sidewalls soon?

Plus, it features a fuzzy, velvet-like sidewall relief like that found on the Pilot Sport Cup 2. That doesn't add anything to the performance; it's just cool to touch.

I can see it now, next motors meet, everyone lining up to stroke the tyres of the guy with PS4S :p

I got 25K out of the rears on my 530D and I used to have that sliding all the time. Amazing that a tyre with so much traction and grip actually lasts so long. I plan to replace the Conti's on the R8 with PSS shortly as the Conti's are at best, average.

Which model Continental does the R8 have? I'm still thoroughly enjoying the grip and tread wear of the SportContact 6. The PS4S are supposed to be quite a bit better than them, so can only imagine what they will be like when the time comes.

Damn, I need tyres now and was going to go for the PS4 over the MPSS as recommended, feel a bit gutted there's an even better PS4S coming out, I don't think I can hold out until January though.

Things have moved on quite a bit since the F1 (I assume you are referring to the AS2?).

The current choices are the SportContact 6, or the Pilot Sport 4. The AS3 are also very good, but of course the other two seem to be most popular. I'm enjoying the CSC6 for the time being on the E46.

Z4M Roadster tyre size.

I currently have 255/40/ ZR 18 on the back and 225/45 ZR 18 on the front.

255 40 r18 rear and 225 45 r18 front are supposed to be standard tyre size, but there is no speed rating given on my tyres (does that mean they are super old?)

Where do people buy tyres now? I need 4 and they are coming in at £150+ EACH, on my MX5 I'd get all 4 for £150, I hate being a grown up. Checked Black Cirlces and Mytyres which used to be my go to sites.

Are tyre pressures correct for a warm tyre or cold tyre?

You're meant to measure when cold aren't you? Unless you're doing trackdays. If it's quick trip from home to nearest petrol station with an air machine, I'd still account for them being cold.

On a side note, anybody found out when the PS4 S will be out?

Yes,
Pilot Sport 4 S

To prevent confusion ;)

EDIT: Oh, managed to find an ETA after all that, Jan 2017 supposedly.. I'll try and hold out in that case.

I'm also interested as these are essentially MPSS2!

It's crazy how much a same size tyre, but different brand or model can affect how the sidewalls looks.

My dad replaced his Michelin Primacy HP RFT (19" 245/40 + 275/35 on F10 BMW) to CS6's and they have a lot less (read: minimal) tyre protection and look more balloon-ey.

Much preferred the looks of the Michelins. At least it should ride a lot better now.

Because the Michelin tyres are BMW spec and the continentals are not. Conti do not offer a BMW spec tyre for the F10 M Sport and therefore the result is as you have found.
