**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Had a couple of Michelin Supersports on front today 255/35/20 £513 for pair and a £60 fuel card to come, not too bad I think

Odd thing was bloke remembered my car and that he fitted rears earlier in year, he checked them and said they have 5-6mm on them, found the receipt out and they have done 11k miles

In my opinion supersports are the best tyre if you enjoy driving. Put mine back on 911 for winter and even though rears are down to 2-3mm the grip in cold and wet is superb and in the dry only R compound tyres can beat them.

Ive done ten track days and over 10000 miles on my set, nothing short of amazing how long they last. :)

The best part is its a tyre full of feedback and grip is always consistent and as they have worn their ability has remained unchanged.

Ive pretty much had every tire over the years on various cars and have got to say Michelin are in another league. For those interested they are quite a light weight tire too.

Just wish I could get them for the M3 :(

The rainsport 2's on my E46 are going to be needing a change sometime.

I got them with the car, they seem really good, shall I just get the same again? I can't tell if mine are the higher load versions, do I need this?

The only complaint I have is the fairly high road noise, but I guess this is more to do with the car being on 17"s?

Any other options? I like these are they do seem very good in the wet and that's where I tend to feel my least confident driving.

E - Maybe I should google before asking stupid questions. So the RS3 is out, it seems to perform better then the RS2 so shall I just go for that then?

Just get the F1 AS2?

This.

The noise isn't just high because it's a 17" wheel, I have 17s on mine. The noise is high because of the tyre! You'll like the AS2 on the E46

I've had a look at the F1's, they seem better than the RS2's in the wet which is nice, and they're cheaper!?

For a 4 door E46 should I go for the XL variant?

I need to buy four new 205/55/R16 tyres for a Focus 1.6 Mk2
The current tyres are Sunitrac Focus2000, which were on the car when bought and a are very old.
I am not sure on the load rating and speed rating, but most sites advise W 91

I have narrowed my search down to the following below, but would like recommendations and or advise, thanks.

Michelin Primacy 3
Dunlop Sport BluResponse
Dunlop SP Sport FastResponse
Goodyear EfficientGrip
Bridgestone Turanza T001
Continental Premium Contact 5

Out of that i would get the Premium Contact 5s. However, if the uniroyal RainSport 3s are available, then give them a try, as i have replaced Prium Conact 2s with them, and they are better than them, IMO. However i have no evidence to back that up. No differnce between the Premium Contact 5s, that i can tell. They a re great through standing water, and stop very quickly in wet or dry.
Just a thought for you.

Well I've just ordered 4 of them for my RX-8 ... cannot wait :)

I've found Camskill to be excellent to buy from, just bought 255/40/19 for the CGT for £670 inc delivery which isn't bad going for that car.

Got 8 x AS2s to fit to both the cars now:p
