**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

thing that irks me the most...tread depth
csc7 5.8mm
f1a6 6.4mm
mps4s 7.2mm

thinking of replacing my mps4s soon...i'm considering the f1a6, but longevity-wise, the michelins outlasts everything else
Tread depth isn't the only thing that affects longevity though?

Could someone advise on a decent set of all season tyres? mines are dreadful in this weather and I could do with a new set all round. Cross Climate 2's still the go to?

So it turns out my wife qualifies for Costco membership via her job.

I heard good things about the price of Costco tyres but I'm curious what they're like from a fitting/service perspective.

(I get that it's not rocket science but I'm simply keen to hear feedback from someone who's used them versus the usual suspects)

Prices haven’t been that good for a while IMO. You get the odd deal but usually on clearance stock.

There have been quite a few posts about it above and in other threads, but when I did my research, the best mild/cold weather all seasons are the Vector 4Season Gen3.

I’ve been really, really impressed by them.

My Octavia has recently had an advisory for 2 front tyres on its MOT, and I'm thinking of going all season, any recommendations for 225/45/17 please?

As per the post just above, I was looking at the Cross Climate, but open to other options too.

Thanks. I must admit I've not looked in some time but when I was looking around at PS4s and PS5s they seemed very competitive but maybe that's changed since then.

I'm in the same boat as the chap above TBH. I don't want to go overboard but don't want to buy rubbish either. The Cross Climates are coming in at nearly £500 for a full set!

Honestly, take a look at the Goodyear. They were £20 a tyre cheaper than the Crossclimate when I got 4 of them for the Fiesta and they’re amazing.

The only negative is that they’re a little louder than the previous tyres, but then everything is loud in a tin can :P

The comfort is leagues above, grip in colder weather is awesome and the aqua resistance is shockingly good compared to even the PS5 on my 135i and N rated Asymmetrics on my Boxster.

Likewise, in my size, they were about £100 cheaper for the whole set over CC2s. Reading the reviews there didn't seem to be much between the two, but slightly better in the wet.

I actually found them quieter than the tyres my car came with, but they were super budget ones.

See my post on the previous page.

Goodyear Vector 4 seasons gen 3 were epic for me on my Scotland trip during the storms and rains over the last few weeks.

Mighty whilst driving up a wet/slushy/windy A9 and dealt with trips from Aberdeen up to the Fraserburgh area through lots of rain and standing water. Temps were always between 5 and 0.

Hadn't appreciated that can book home tyre fit at Halfords, say - at no additional cost, if you're prepared to be around all day (seems our localish ATS closed down)

Like Kwik-fit, maybe most others, have to book a fake appointment before you can see what the cost would be with any codes.

I recently had some Pilot Sport 5's fitted at my local Costco (they were cheaper than essentially anywhere else and had a £50 off when buying two deal so I saved about £80 compared to anywhere else I could find at the time) and I had no issues with fitting at all.

I'm not sure I would say it was a better experience than anywhere else I've had, but ultimately I drove in with old tyres, drove out with new ones and all went well with no issues.

Yeah thanks, i'm going to price up a few options and will probably go for the Goodyears.

Booked in for 4x Pilot Sport 4S on Monday with Kwikfit. £100 cheaper than anywhere else I could find.

Had to go N rated tyres to get the car under warranty. Could have saved about £300 by going for Sport Contact 7s :(

Fitted today! When dropping off the car, the chap said it’ll take a little longer than usual as they want to take extra care to not damage the wheels.

Can confirm they are damage free - just a little dirty.

Initial impressions over the Asymmetric are that they seem much softer over bumps and lower road noise. Hoping they’ll last a couple years though at that price! :(

Not quite sure how it works because in tyre reviews test of 255/35/19 tyres, it says the CSC7 has 7.4mm tread?
