**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Okay...this is how it is.

£446.36 delivered from Camskill + fitting
£521.84 fitted from Blackcircle fitted
£520 fitted from another place near me (so I am basically paying him £15 per tyre to be fitted)

or....the garage is trying to sell me some Vredestein ULTRAC CENTO 215/55 ZR17 94Y

£420 fitted.

Camskill do the Vredestein £371 delivered (not fitted)

They will also do 4 wheel alignment done for £40 when I buy the tyres.

Bottomline, £560 for CS5 or £460 for Vredestein.

Thoughts?

I've just had the same battle with getting the CS5 over Kumho the garage wanted to sell. Garage wanted £20 each to fit just the fronts if I supplied from Camskill.

Seems everywhere these days wants to sell tyres not fit them.

Where's this £560 come from for the CS5's?

£392.76 for CS5's delivered form camskills + £10 a corner fitting

= £432.76 fully fitted

£392? Are you looking at the right tyre? I got £446 delivered.

The £560 is tyre + fitting + 4 wheel alignment from the local place.

I want to get the alignment done as I've never had it done on the car and last year I hit a pot hole which required a fix on the alloy.

I was looking at 215/45/17. Which are cheaper, you must have a low production tyre size in 205/45/17...

Also alignment check should be free unless there is any work to be done. And then it should be no more than about £10-15 per wheel adjusted...

I find it easier to just find a well-priced local tyre fitter. I can get CS5s for £125 each fitted from my local place, who take very good care of my car. I'm sure Camskill don't sell them for much less. Easier than farting about getting them delivered and humping them around IMHO.

Parents are 20 miles away.
Sister is 60 miles away, she works.
Neighbours work.
No safe place to leave outside the house.

If I can get them fitted at £10 a tyre, I am only saving £20. That is before the time and petrol I would need to spend to pick them up.

Spend £20 I can just drive to the garage and have them fitted.

Now. CS5 or Vredestein ?

Review is quite good. Seems excellent in the wet.

Again your maths is failing me.

Camskill price = £446.36 + £10 fitting per corner = £486.36

Local Garage = £520 fitted

Savings made = £33.64

Also the time and petrol thing. Just pick the tyres up on the way to the garage that is fitting them. Then you can't view it as that much of an extra journey...

ok..£33 saving. You win lol That on the prioviso that I can find a place to fit them at £10 a corner.

As for pick the tyre up on the way to the garage...

I can walk to the garage in question in 10 mins.

When I say round the corner from my house it really is not far off.

I have to actually leave the County to pick the tyres up if I get "carded".

You can walk to it, but how would they fit your tyres :p

Why not ask the garage if they can match your delivered price from camskill? If not, then ask if you can have the tyres delivered to their garage...

You asked me why not pick up the tyre on the way to the garage...the garage is so close that I have to drive away from the garage in order to go back to it. It is like going from London to Birmingham to pick up something when you can get the same thing in London to save £30 or 4-5%. That is before you taking into account petrol cost to drive to the depot (120 miles return trip) and the time it take (2-3 hours). All this assuming there is a local garage that let me bring my own tyre and fit them for £10 a corner. If they want £15 a corner then I may end up spending more money on petrol than the amount saved by getting it from Camskill.

I have told the garage on the Camskill price. Lowest he can go is £520.

Like I said....mind is made up to spend that £33 and not petrol money and time and get it done...so.

CS5 for £520 or Vred for £420.

Wet performance looks great for the Vred from the review.

Make friends with an e-tyre man in a van, £5 a tyre that way balanced and fitted and he comes to you :p

Vred wet performance is superb.

They are different Vreds to yours mrk, they are lower end Cento not Sesessenta.

I would be comparing them with the continentals tbh.

Well, it's really time to get mine, I have been putting it off and putting it off it's time and I have a morning free on Saturday so might as well get it done before the MOT next month.

Choices are

Goodyear Efficient Grip £521.44
Toyo Proxes T1-R £426.00
Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 £464.48
Continental Sports Contact 5 £521.84
Bridgestone Potenza RE050A £548.96
Uniroyal Rainsport 2 £487.20
Pirelli P Zero Nero £510.40

I am leaning towards the Conti. /end of discussion?

Conti's or Pots. Not sure about the others myself but I know the V12 Hankooks are crap.
