**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

In any case I had 4 Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tyres (225/45 17 91Y) fitted today to replace the 4 random tyres that were on my car when purchased:
  • Front left: Haida Racing HD 919
  • Front right: Three A P606
  • Rear left: Avon ZV5 with a slow puncture
  • Rear right: an old Michelin Primacy
I am glad that the resonance noise that was being produced in the high 40mph range has now gone. I am sure they will be much, much better tyres and I will be doing a decent distance on the weekend en route to a stag do and back where I am sure I will become more familiar with their characteristics.

I thought hard about going for the Goodyear Eagle F1s that seemingly everyone recommends, but wanted to try something different.

Interested in what you think about these as I'll need 2 rears on my 19 inch RFT's soon and pretty much the only two available tyres are the Goodyear Excellence, which I have now and dislike, and the Dunlop Sport MAXX RT.

I have had these, although on a mondeo with 16inch tyres, they were quieter than the continentals, and performed just as well. I would happily purchase them again.

Are these tyres any good? I saw them on a 118i and thought the tread looks pretty unusual!

Well I can only give an initial impression after travelling only around 100 miles since putting them on.

I think they may be more comfortable and quieter than the random tyres I had on. The sidewalls appear quite soft.

Just squizzed 40k on my rear set of MPSS, fronts are on 30k. Sadly got a puncture in the left rear which means replacement. Annoying as there's 3mm left :(

I've used a few different online tyre places before but I've just used Tyreleader for the first time and gone for a full set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports which have come in at under £190 a corner which, if everything goes well with delivery, amazes me for 20in alloys! I was expecting at least £250+ and probably closer to £300.

RT is good mate, rated very highly in wet, mpg and noise/comfort test.

Swapped from RFT to F1A2s, very impressed so far after 20 miles. Significantly quieter and softer over bumps. Can't provide a full comparison until I do at least a week's commute but just driving down one junction of the M6 it was quieter at 70-80 mph.

Ordered 2 x Toyo Proxies T1 for the daily leon diesel, coming from Michelin Pilot sports but didnt fancy spending that sort of money

I also bought some Good year eagle f1 ass 2 for my supra, all arriving on Thursday. Should have the new wheels fitted in the next few weeks, car is going away for a detail first.

Given my new MPSS a good work out now the silicon has worn off, very impressed with the grip but they are very noisy!

After two new fronts for the Mondeo (215 50 17 95W)

Choices seem to be

Pirreli P7 Cinturato Blue
Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance
Michelin Primacy 3

All seem about £110 a tyre.

Which would be best, or should i look at another tyre?

Requirements would be best for high mileage and efficiency.

Thanks
