**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Somewhat confused here... Getting to the point where I need to change all the tires on the 1 series, was planning on getting shot of the run flats as they are dire, but looking at blackcircles it's only giving me the option of runflats or reinforced tyres. Do I actually need reinforced tyres if I'm changing from runflats?

It's a 116i, F20, tyre sizes are 225/45/17 on the front and 245/40/17 on the back. Any recommendations or advice?

Its probably just the case that some manufacturers don't bother offering both XL and non XL tyres in the sizes you want. The XL ones will be fine.

Fair enough, the tyres coming up seem to be much of a muchness all around the £90 a corner price, anything worth considering over Continental Sport Contact 5's all round?

Wow, How can you all be happy spending so much on tyres?

Makes me happy to have 15" Wheels on my Clio Sport, Its £33 Posted for Rainsport 3's!

Well, considering the cheapest I've found is £75 a corner for a tyre brand I've actually heard of, paying £10 more for decent tyres seems like a no brainer to me. For what it's worth, Rainsport 3's are also £88 ;)

How do the Michelin Pilot Sport 3s usual fare for traction in wet? Obviously a premium tire and there's tons of tread, but 250bhp through front wheels means they're constantly trying to spin if its remotely damp.

Is there likely to be any better than those, or is it just a case of FWDLOL.

There's nearly new Dunlop Sport maxx RTs on the rear, tempted to swap them over to see the difference but expect they'd be worse

I could have had Eagle F1 AS2's posted for £66 in 225/45/17 which I was happy with. Went to kwik fit in the end as had a few % topcashback and £10 per tyre back from goodyear making them £69 each fitted.

Need to decide what tyres to get on a Hyundai i10. 165/60/14

Given budget is 40 quid and a decent brand is 50, could easily go for the more expensive ones, but for a small/slow hatchback, is it really worth it? For what it's worth, I do 60 miles a day, mostly on motorway.

Looking to replace the PS3's on my E90 335i soon.

Been happy with them in the time I've had the car, so no issues buying again; just thought I'd see if people had any other suggestions before I pull the trigger?

I did look at the PSS, but they don't seem to offer a tyre for my rear (255/35/18)

Hankook Ventus S1 Evo appear to be getting great reviews as well as fantastic "forum" reviews which are always to be taken with a pinch of salt. Has anyone tried them?

Can anyone recommend some good tyres for mostly motorway driving with good wear characteristics?

Car is a BMW 3 Series 225/45/18 91 Y

I was looking at some F1A2's but wondering if they'll be a bit overkill for my needs.

I had them fitted to my girlfriends fiesta 195/45 R16 to replace 4 CSC3's I had fitted when I owned the car.

To me, They don't seem as good as the continentals in either wet or dry. They're quiet though and the steering seems an awful lot lighter at the same PSI. The continentals did wear though and they were expensive for a small tyre.

BUT! They are in no way budget ditch finders, they provide adequate grip and let go progressively, just a little earlier.

Looking at the tests, they appear to excel in the larger sizes, may have something to do with the tread pattern design. I think I'll take a risk on them - car currently has 5mm left on the Avon ZZ5s fitted so may be a while...

205/55R16 91V on a Golf Plus GT TDi

Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance or Dunlop SP Sport BluResponse?

Looking for a good wearing reasonably quiet tyre. Both seem to be £60/corner on Tyre Shopper.

I found them to be fine for everyday use. They don't have the high end grip of the F1's or CS5's though

i will be needing 4 new tyres for my focus (1.6 2001) soon.. 185/65/14.. want the best valued tyres (fitted) the local garages near me will charge £10 for fitting per tyre :/ I don't want to spend too much as the car itself is not worth much.
Anyone have any recommendations on what tyres and also any places doing any offers?
Thanks in advance guys :)

Yeah, it's really annoying having more grip than you need.

They're good road tyres, not cut slicks.

The F1A2's are great wearing, comfortable, very grippy and very good value for money.

Struggling a little here with finding decent tyres for my MX-5, 205/45/16

F1A2 don't appear to be available in that size, but GSD3 are (but ancient now), only other option is Michelin PS3 but they are also a fairly old tyre now IIRC

Camskill do F1AS2 in that size. I'm more than happy with the Uniroyal RainSport3s on my MX5 albeit in 195/50/15
