Yes there are other places but I’m not one for sitting around tyre places and then having to whine on the internet when they kerb my wheels...

Thanks, I think I'll go for the same ones for now then next time replace all 4 with non-RFTs.

Didn't see those at first as I was only looking on blackcircles but checked with my usual tyre place and they do them. Currently cheaper than a lot of other runflats too.

Just put 4 AS3's (non-RFT) on my wife's Mazda3 last week and they've been great so far.
 
Do Conti Eco Contacts have the same sort of soft compound as the sporty tyres, and hence wear quickly? Or are they more comparable to other "Eco" tyres in terms of wear?

I always fitted F1s or Conti's to my ST, but I don't drive the A4 like I drove the ST, so thinking mid-range tyres would do. Any experience on the Toyo's? I know Hankooks from about 7 years ago! They weren't too bad and IIRC Audi used to put them on new cars.

Haven't got any experience of Eco Contacts, but the Premium Contacts that I have on the Front of my Focus haven't lasted that well (10k) - honestly think it is just Conti in general. Have some type of Michelin Primacy on the back, believe they are the original tyres, and only just about to change them at ~36k miles.
 
im still running the avon tyres that came on the E90. they are ok and well wearing down really slow :)
waiting to fit some ps3

I had the opposite wear experience with continental on my fn2. Around two years I had the same two on so must have done around 20k on a set of sport contact, albeit I will have rotated them. Our little 107 had either premium or eco contacts that barely worn whilst we owned it, but the second car is lucky to do 4k pa so a bit less relevant.

Maybe they're particularly weight sensitive or something. The cheap tat (Barum) on the front of the ST did not wear well at all which surprised me- down to circa 4.5mm in what can only be around 6k until they were swapped last week. Shocking tyres all round
 
I'm shocked to see run of the mill cars chewing through a pair of tyres in 10k miles, I get 7k or so from sticky track rubber with a couple of sprint days and bucket loads of drag strip burnouts
 
But it's a light weight, well balanced rear wheel drive sports car, not a nose heavy front wheel drive diesel box.

I used to go through a set of Contis on the front on my old Mondeo in 8K, and that wasn't driving hard. IME Contis don't wear well at all compared to e.g. Michelin.
 
Well, after melting my Yoko v105's on track today (admittedly being a bit harsh) I think I'm asking a little too much of them and I need a second set of track wheels & tyres

Really?! My Conti Sport Contact 5 have been on the car since I bought it a year ago (not sure how new they were) and I've since done 18k on them. Not even an advisory on the remaining tread on my MOT a few weeks ago. 220PS fwd hatch too so I think that's a good innings. Wonder what I'd get from Michelins then :p
 
So rather than reply in the wrong (show us your motor) thread I'll post here.

Ended up with Dunlop sportmaxx rt2's (after an as3 palava) which I'm really happy with now they have scrubbed in. Had another form of sportmaxx (GT I think) a few years ago that were unimpressive. Seems they have made a marked improvent with this iteration
 
well got the eagles fitted and its night and day the difference, i still have the avons on the front and i think they were doing a good job keeping the front and back on the road as much as they could, now with the eagles on the back i cannot believe how much grip and confidence i have back in the motor.

soon as the avons wear down i will be replacing with eagles too.

the tyres that were on the back were autogrip tripe and although still have around 5mm on them they are shocking in the wet.
