**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Christ, my question was whether the Goodyear Vectors will suffice as winter tyres.

Apologies for asking a tyre-related question in the tyre thread.

As you were gents.

I want some good performance tyres for my Corolla for the front wheels... I have a pair of Michelin Energy Saver's on the back which I'm happy to leave there, but there is a slight issue in as much as that there don't seem to be ANY good performance tyres in my size that I can see, 195:55:16 :(

I could get some 205:50:16's, but then I would either have different tyre sizes front to back, or I would have to change all four and get rid of two perfectly good (and not cheap) tyres...

Are there any 195:55:16's which are soft compound and actually good for dry road bashing?

Conti premium contact 5 probably best tyre for a ecobox corolla

The answer is yes, all-season tyres are about 3 times better than summer tyres if you get any snow or sub zero temps. Not as good as winter tyres but for the weather we get in this country all-season are fine.

Except in my experience (admittedly not a Corolla or the exact same size tyre), they wear quickly and have a super soft sidewall so don't inspire any confidence

Well now we know he wants to track day it sure, but as a daily road tyre for a small, light car like a corolla it should be ok.

Pretty much my thinking as well. This thing won't be going to the Arctic or Alps any time soon..
I'll get another set of wheels and buy some summer tyres.
What's the best all-rounder for a 150bhp hatchback running 225/45 17? Michelin PS4? I'm prepared to pay more for longevity and don't feel like getting 10,000 miles out of ContiSportContacts :p

TBH, I've had CSC3, F1A2s and Pirelli P7s in the past and was happy with all of them, but not really up with what's available in 2018.

Very happy with my MPSS on the A6..

Even in the alps, the all-seasons I had worked perfectly fine, but that was 4wd as well which helped :)

PS4 have had great reviews, on par with the conti's but wear much better as far as I understand, not used them myself as I'm on CSC6's on the Sti and they seem fine at the mo, but I don't do big milage

Anyone have any experience with Dunlop sportmax rt2 tyres? I've just ordered a set for a reasonable price and judging by reviews they're decent tyres.

These are the ones on the front of mine (edit - definitely are).

Very good tyres, noticeably more grip than the still very well treaded as2 on the back (need to swap them round really). My only real criticism so far is they look to be wearing fairly quickly. Albeit that is eyeballing them not measuring tread. Only been on for circa 3 months so haven't covered more than a few k

So finally got my new wheels fitted to my A4, and the tyres are too big. No great deal as I was needing to put summer tyres on anyway, bit thought I'd have a month before having to do it.

Anyway, so I'm looking for 235/35/19. Would have preferred PS4's bit can only find PS4S's in that size. What are the differences between the 2? I want a tyre that'll do loads of miles and is decent hence wanting the PS4. Thinking the 4S might be too much tyre realistically.

Any other recommendations for a good tyre that's hard wearing in this size? I've enjoyed my vredstein sessanta in the past, but looks like it's the vorti now.

Got a new pair of Pilot Sport 4S fitted the other day and I must say i'm not impressed at all. I've never seen my traction control light flash so much and I'm constantly understeering around corners even at 20-30mph. I'm sure this has nothing to do with the compacted snow I've been driving over... :p Can't wait to give them a proper test when it gets warmer!

No-one with suggestions other than PS4S's then? Probably give the Vorti's a try then.

Must be fun driving with tyres still coated in release compound :D

I was lucky enough to at least get 100 miles in on dry roads before this arrived, and I've only been out once in the car so far this week.
