Up Yours DSA!

Wish DVLA screw up my license :/

I got all the paperwork for it still in a box (only a few years old) somewhere, not that I would tell them over the phone.

Would love to take them to court, and turn up with all the pass certificate ... wonder what the judge/magistrate/whoever would say to whoever is representing the DVLA :D

Would love to be there for that one bud :D :D

There was a thing on the tele about this a couple of months ago, the DVLA seem to lose peoples licenses by the hundred. Pretty shocking stuff, the only solution appears to be to retake your test.

This happened to a lot of HGV drivers when they were switching to photo-cards.

Licence came back without C on it due to some **** up. The ones who didn't spot it before x time, simply lost it. Not even the company's photocopy of their licence was proof enough...

Makes me scared to ever send my license in. I'll be getting a signed copy of mine if I ever have to, no matter the cost. It's not worth the risk. (would be nice to get rid of the "<25kw" part on the back for my Cat A now it's been over 2 years but that can wait).

I can't believe people are actually retaking their test. Shocking.

What else can we do, I am certainly not going to drive illegally according to DSA (Not that that is what you are suggesting mate) Once this happens there is nothing more that can be done apart from retaking the whole lot, which I had to pay for too.

Without sounding like a keyboard warrior, i'd carry on driving and start court proceedings.

Not only is it their mistake, their only response is to effectively "give us money" to do it all over again.

Who's to say this isn't being done on purpose to make people pay for more tests?

DSA can **** right off.

The DSA is a money orientated organisation. They don't care in the slightest about driving standards. It's all pencil pushers and red tape and charging extortionate amounts to keep themselves going.

I think this was on Watchdog a couple of months ago, they actually took people with the same problem to the DVLA office and got it sorted.

It's happening all the time with motorcyclists who send their licence off for updating and the new one comes back without the motorcycle endorsement. MCN have a solution with a petition running on the Downing St. website which is generating a lot of interest. Take a look.

I am actually very shocked about this, this is so silly.

Someone can be driving a car/lorry or motorbike for the last few years and the the DSA can suddenly mess up your details and you are in essence, not legally allowed to drive,

how bizarre.

The DSA are second only to the student loans people in being utterly incompetent. :/

That's not fair, SLC were not that bad in the previous few years ... when LEAs handled most of the stuff.
DSA and DVLA have always handled this stuff, and have always screwed it up.

This. I mean I have a paper trail of owning several cars, a decade's insurance in my name, photocopies of both parts... No way could I be forced to retake my tests, at least not without them paying and compensating me for the trouble.

Tell that to my sister who had to tell them how much she had paid back of her loan as they had genuinely no idea how much she owed them when she was about to emigrate. 2 years down the line they chase her up and give her back £2000. She still doesn't understand how it all works out, and neither do they.

Driving licence for 20 years, surely it would have been documented somewhere like in insurance, or if a copper took a look at it, like checked in an accident or something.
Surely thats proof the licence existed, enough to get a case.

I would be severely annoyed if i had to take my test again personally, especially paying for it, but each to their own i guess.
