is the Fury Beast kit still recommended?
I found it on the QVL, I think ( KF556C40BBK2-64 ) so it seems like a good option.
Would there be any difference in conjunction with the msi motherboard?
How much extra?

Budget went out the window as I sold some old stuff
what make/model exactly have you bought?already picked up the psu and cooler
Ah ok, I’m just wondering if it’s worth going for a lower latency kit and higher mhz if there’s any benefit or do you think it’s pointless? I’m just a bit miffed why they make all these different ram speeds when half the time the prices are all very similar. Price I believe is the same.I found it on the QVL, I think ( KF556C40BBK2-64 ) so it seems like a good option.

@tamzzy Getting the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 A-RGB as recommended. And the Bequiet Pure Power 1000w 12m atx 3.0 pcie5. Is there anything better now?

no those are the top tier. i'd stick with themGetting the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 A-RGB as recommended. And the Bequiet Pure Power 1000w 12m atx 3.0 pcie5. Is there anything better now?
at 64gb, i suspect the limiting factor would be the memory controller, save your moneyI looked at G Skill Z5 which I know OC doesn’t sell but it I imagine is overkill/negligible anyway.
whichever is cheapest, not much between them tbh outside of benchmarksI think for the ssd I’m torn between 990 pro or WD SN850X. I’m tempted to go for the P5P as recommended which I might slot in at a later date but it looks like she other too might be that tad quicker for boot drive. I always wanted a 4TB really, but perhaps might start with just the 2tb and add others later I’m thinking.
No real performance difference on moving to 6000mhz for your needs , the Kingston brother @tamzzy recommend offer excellent value for 64gb .@tamzzy - I've picked up some items for the build - is the Fury Beast kit still recommended? only I noticed there's a 6000mhz variant they manufacture also. Would there be any difference in conjunction with the msi motherboard? -
Could splash out an extra £10 for the RGB version
No real performance difference
if I went for something like G Skill Z6 6400 with the lower latency timings, would I notice any performance difference then
I've decided to go for 2x 2tb 990 pro's by the way.
not much differenceif I went for something like G Skill Z6 6400 with the lower latency timings, would I notice any performance difference then or if I tried to overclock the system? would it be right to say that if I don't overclock, then the 13900k is more than happy with the 5600 memory speed and wont utilise anything higher really?
Thank you Tetras this is really helpful. Yes both drives will be in heavy use I expect. I’ll keep most games on same drive as the os and the other drive will be all the photography stuff. I might stick a third at a later date depending on need to store what Will be a lot of raw files too. There's not going to be any noticeable difference in performance between 5600 and 6400.
In the hardware unboxed video I watched (I think it was: Zen 4 v Raptor Lake memory scaling, link), there was a 3% difference in average fps between 5200 and 6000 and a 3% difference in average fps between 6000 and 7200. This was at 1080p, with a 4090.
In Guru3D's article (13900K memory scaling, link), there was a 3% difference in average fps between 4800 and 7200. This was at 1080p, with a 3090.
I'd expect the gap to close at 1440p, to nearly disappear at 4K and to be less noticeable, the slower the graphics card. I think you can see that here, in an older TPU article with a 12900K and a 3080, there's a 0.2% difference between 5200 and 6000 at 4K.
Are both drives heavy usage? I'd usually suggest you only get high-end drive with DRAM, for the boot drive and apps, especially if one drive is only used for games or light storage. The WD SN770 is still pretty fast and has decent endurance, but is less than £140 for 2TB.
if they're heavy use you'd be better off with the 4tb drives imo - more for the tbw than anything elseThank you Tetras this is really helpful. Yes both drives will be in heavy use I expect.
