SuRun

I pretty much swear by SuRun. Think of it as U.A.C. for Windows XP with the secure desktop.

You are actually still running as an Administrator in Windows Vista and Windows 7 with the U.A.C. element on top. So if U.A.C. fails or falls foul to a vulnerability, you won't be protected.

With SuRun, you are running as a limited user all the time, and elevated temporarily when you want to do something that requires elevated priviledges.

I prefer it over RunAs for the secure desktop and that you are using your user profile and not a seperate (Administrator) account.

I hope you get the idea, you can read more at the site after translating to English.

freshmeat

freshmeat maintains the Web's largest index of Unix and cross-platform software, themes and related "eye-candy", and Palm OS software. Thousands of applications, which are preferably released under an open source license, are meticulously cataloged in the freshmeat database, and links to new applications are added daily. Each entry provides a description of the software, links to download it and to obtain more information, and a history of the project's releases, so readers can keep up-to-date on the latest developments.

freshmeat is the first stop for Linux users hunting for the software they need for work or play. It is continuously updated with the latest developments from the "release early, release often" community. In addition to providing news on new releases, freshmeat offers a variety of original content on technical, political, and social aspects of software and programming, written by both freshmeat readers and Free Software luminaries. The comment board attached to each page serves as a home for spirited discussion, bug reports, and technical support. An essential resource for serious developers, freshmeat.net makes it possible to keep up on who's doing what, and what everyone else thinks of it.

VHD Attach!

This is small tool that adds Attach and Detach option to contextual (aka right-click) menu of Virtual disk (vhd) files. That enables those operations to be done without trip to Disk Management console. Detach option is available on hard drive contextual menu also.

Additionally program can be used as classic utility in order to see various information about virtual disk, even without attaching it.

Do notice that this program only works with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Older operating systems are not supported.

PPT to Video Free
http://www.acoolsoft.com/

I use it to convert my PowerPoint presentation to video so that I can put it to YouTube and share with people. It's a free program and I really like it. I think it allows people who don't have PowerPoint installed on their computer to watch the presentation online at ease. It's a great assistant to me.

Now that is useful.
I do 'simple' guides for e-KSF, Virtual College & ESR and I send people my PPTs to the reply of "I haven't for Powerpoint".
I'll ask my boss if we can put the films on the NHS Intranet as well.
