- Utter turd - OCUK WORST GAME OF THE YEAR

Total War: Rome II

There isn't even any argument about it. Every terrible game named in this thread, Rome II has done it worse.

I have no regretabble purchases, mostly just annoyances with games not working from the get go and needing some form of tweaking/modding to get working. Shouldn't be the case in todays age. Starting to miss being on console. Starting to remember why I went to console from PC a few years back.

Every single game with sodding microtransactions. As soon as a game has microtransactions you know that what could have been a good game has turned into a dull grindfest so that people will pay to make the game how it was originally designed to be. Even worse are those games you pay full price for that have the cheek to include microtransactions (I'm looking at you Forza 5 and Gran Turismo 6).

Other than that I cant think of any individual games that deserve the title of worst game of the year that I've played. There have been a few games that I didn't like, but that was just because they weren't for me, rather than being genuinely bad games

I thought this was OCUK game of the year, not yours? You seem to judge everyones choices.

Pardon, what's with the aggression towards me lately, you seem to take every post I've made as some sort of pc gaming hate.

I basically said " you think X-rebirth is bad, try realms of arkania "

What's wrong with that???? Nobody else has misread it, just you, hope you had a good christmas :D

I don't get the hate for Bioshock Infinite. I think it's one of the best games of 2013. It had an interesting and compelling story, character-driven, was visually spectacular, and had satisfying combat - especially when there were rails to zip around on. Seems the biggest complaint people have about it is it's not exactly like the original Bioshock.

For me, the biggest turkey of the year (that I played) was X Rebirth. I don't mind the bugs; Egosoft have a habit of releasing broken games, but they do get it fixed eventually with patches. The problems with Rebirth go deeper than the relentless parade of game-breaking bugs.

The interface is clunky, the combat unsatisfying, and the walking in ships and stations bit are tiny fenced-in areas. From the outside, ships and stations look humongous. But the game won't give you access to these huge areas inside, you only get a tiny section. The graphics in ships and stations are low-res awfulness that would have been considered adequate ten years ago.

The disappointment is that the trailers promised a vast open world to play around in, when in reality, you get a handful of sectors in a handful of systems, with a handful of station interiors copy-pasted throughout.

Honorable mention to Aliens Colonial Marines; I didn't play this game, but was well aware of the controversy surrounding the trailers showing gameplay footage with shinier graphics and better features than the game actually provided.

Not a turd, as such, but the fight mechanic in Remember Me is a complete skid-mark.
The rest of it is actually quite good but I bailed in frustration in the end.

I'm going to jump in here with MechWarrior Online.

It was an opportunity to remake an excellent game with cryengine 3. So it should have been a stunning game with a solid mechanic already there to build on.

Nope. Patch after patch broke more of the gameplay mechanics while the devs continually tried to flog pointless tat to the dedicated fans. Does anyone here remember the release? That's because it was basically a small patch and email shot. It's an ongoing beta.

Not necessarily the worst overall game of the year, but the biggest let down for certain.

I certainly agree re. the biggest let down. I was massively active in MW3 and MW4, but just haven't really bothered with MWO. It was the game I was most looking forward to this year but it's been a big let down.

Rome 2 total war

Massive hype which turned out vastly inferior to its predecessors. I was robbed in daylight of £30

I felt that way many years back when I bought COD2. :/

It's hard for me to suggest best / worst game in these threads, since I'm always at least a year behind the release date for games. I usually wait until they're £5 or less in sales. :D

Aliens: Colonial Marines or Rome 2 Total War

Some people in this thread need to gain a little perspective, crying "opinion" is one thing but you can inject a little objectivity into it.
Warz or Infestation whatever its called these days

Was technically released in 2012 (December), otherwise it would also be my vote.

Dayz standalone

Is still in alpha, you tool.

Exactly. How do you take stomping around in a giant robot covered in guns, and ruin it?!
