VEGA IS FINALLY HERE, ITS IN STOCK ALONG WITH SOME EPIC BUNDLES & FREESYNC DEALS!!

That is referring to the store made bundles. The one in America with money off cpu mobo and monitor doesn't apply in the UK.

You seem to be correct. Here are the links to the currennt OcUK bundles.

Yet, consider this ad:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/amd-...ng-freesync-monitor-free-games-bu-016-sa.html
Is this false advertising as OcUK don't stock (or ever have as best I can tell) the CPU / Mobo + CPU / Monitor pack?

Well that makes more sense to me. Here in the US the reviewers are going crazy over the story that was on OC3D about the cost of Vega going up after launch, due to the info sited in the OP. Here in the States the price for the Vega 64 air cards are already over $599 USD which coincides with the statements made in the OP. But AMD's site states that the SEP(Suggested E-tailer Price) is to be $499 for the same card. However it is a 'suggested' price. So what the retailers do is on them not AMD.

Except AMD are selling at a cost above where it enables retailers to meet the AMD suggested price of $499. Its not difficult.

If a retailer is buying from an aib at a cost higher than 499, how are they supposed to sell for 499?

Funny how its people signing up to the forum to be the new AMD defence force. It might serve them to actually read whats been posted rather than jumping in with both feet with wrong info.

What do you suggest? Retailer's make a loss on every card they sell?

As to who is telling the truth. Ocuk through gibbo have been very specific from release day as far as RRP. As opposed to AMD who released a contrived statement seeped in obfuscation, telling us virtually nothing.

It strikes me as utterly stupid that they released the card in this state, ropey drivers, hardware features deactivated, and with no real estimates as to when this will all be up-to scratch. Video card launches should be the company putting their best foot forward with polished drivers and the best possible performance possible to that point, with more coming later through optimisations. This launch seems to have been mad last minute scrambling with half assed drivers, portions of the gpu essentially "turned off" and not to mention initial availability and the pricing issues.

It really is baffling how this is allowed to happen, it bears all the hallmarks of absolute chaos behind the scenes while all the while Lisa Su and Raja are on stage flapping their gums like this is a well planned and executed launch cycle.
But that behaviour is not only limited to hardware industry now, look at games and all the patches that they have to roll after game launch. It looks like everything is done to make quick buck, pushed by accountants.

AMD really do know how to mess up a launch. I was hoping they would have learned their lessons through history and Lisa Su at the helm would bring order out of chaos but this is probably the worst launch I have ever seen.

Yeah, I feel you on this.

I was really hoping for a good launch from AMD, that they could apply some pressure to Nvidia prior to the Volta launch. As it stands, Nvidia are so far clear of their competition, it's ridiculous. It doesn't matter which company you favour/buy from, a bad AMD is bad for all of us.

Been discussed before that the T&C stated the bundles are only available in certain countries. It seems the UK only gets the game bundle.

IT is a shame that retailers have to lie to their customers just to make a dollar or pound whichever you prefer. AMD announced what Gibbo stated in the OP about bundles on their site, internet searches provide a wealth of knowledge. Poor people being swindled out of their hard earned money causing an uproar in the reviewer community. Here is what AMD posted on 30 July 2017 https://gaming.radeon.com/en/rx-vega-radeon-packs/ just a mere 2 weeks before the load of BS spewed in the original post. You see it is AMD who is giving you all the great bundles not Gibbo.
It's clear you don't understand what has happened...........firstly, check the T&C for the bundles.........then check what Gibbo has posted.........

People just jumping on the bandwagon

Games have been like that for years now, even more so when high speed internet came around, the "ship it now, finish it later" mentality. Its a bit unusual for a gpu to be released with features still disabled, especially when if enabled they could potentially improve performance to some degree. Something must have went wrong with driver development to have certain things be locked down, especially considering it could change the opinion of some reviewers if some of the features that are meant to improve performance weren't unlocked in time for reviews. At the very least it could possibly make the card have a better showing against the competition. Then again these locked down features might be very minimal in terms of a boost, who knows?

Raja gave a massive hint in the AMD Redit AMA a few months ago about the difficulties the driver team was facing with regards to the drivers for Vega. I'll see if I can dig out the post.

Edit:

I don't see how someone as clued up as Gibbo would be willing to pay over £450 wholesale for these cards, when he knows, and has stated, that a true retail value should be around £450.

He cant control what AMD and AIB's charge him for the cards, he can only give them feedback on what he thinks the cards will sell at to consumers.

This.
Using buying power and tactics might see me a saving, but at most $10 per GPU, any real price move is always supported by the GPU manufacturer or via marketing fund from the AIB.

But of course were not going to simply not sell a product because we don't get our own way, I think most of us grew up of that whilst at primary school. If we just did not sell it, we'd lose sales and business, fact, the simple fact is at the higher price it does still sell. Of course it would sell at lot more at £450 and hopefully AMD will make it possible again in the future.
