Its like the 7th ships to hit something xD

They really must learn to drive in traffic :D

Americans: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the North to avoid a collision.

Canadians: Recommend you divert YOUR course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

Americans: This is the Captain of a US Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.

Canadians: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course.

Americans: This is the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln, the second largest ship in the United States' Atlantic fleet. We are accompanied by three destroyers, three cruisers and numerous support vessels. I demand that YOU change your course 15 degrees north, that's one five degrees north, or countermeasures will be undertaken to ensure the safety of this ship.

Canadians: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

Honestly who would by a VEGA.... everything I have seen just shows it is none competitive on any level with NVidia. It's a real shame because we need AMD to deliver to keep prices reasonable and they just can't. Pity as their CPU Ryzen was a huge success.

As has been said time and time and time again, people with freeesync screens. Not sure why this keeps getting brought up as the answer is the same.

There is something to throw into that mix too, vega is competative, just where its competative at is the point, and in gaming it doesnt fall over by any shot of the imagination. And its really a david and goliath situation, in both parts of the market amd are the underdog. Amd might have the big brand name but they dont have the big r&d budget. What they have been able to push out of there r&d divisions is quite frankly mind blowing when you consider how much intel and nvidia have to push into there r&d.

True I guess if you have bought an freesync screen then you have no choice but to buy a vega card and it is an upgrade from Fury. I think freesync is great and NVidia should adopt it because the premium on monitors for gsync is ridiculous.

If you bought a Vega I hope you enjoy it and if you haven't then perhaps wait until they sort out the pricing disaster?

HBM was AMD's mistake it's a shame they didn't have an architecture that could have easily transitioned to GDDR5x and they wouldn't be in this mess.

This goes back to the r&d, amd simply dont have the r&d budget to go into multiple sections. And hbm is probably tied to hbcc. But also look on the flip side, so much of vega isnt even turned on yet and that is something amd need to sort out.

I think it probably could be used with gddr5, but they would have to design a new pcb to accommodate the different memory, disable HBCC. That's of course assuming there's nothing in the core that absolutely needs hbm that can't be deactivated. Nowt even sure what changes would have to be made to the packaging to get rid of all the hbm interconnects. If it could be done its probably more trouble than what its worth.

Vega will be used with main memory as its going to be in laptops and included inside a CPU, I dont think they'll use HBM then. So it was an option but they chose to make all the big cards the same, maybe a very low budget card will not use HBM but over time HBM will lose its premium anyway? Any successful release increases its profits over time, I cant see them reversing to avoid a bump in the road

Plenty of aircooled cards doing the rounds, both on here and caseking germany. All the black plastic shroud though, starting to wonder if the so called "LE" card has already sold through its stock and won't be returning.
