Vegas Hotels

Sorry to add but decided against platinum as would prefer to be on the strip.

Just noticed Planet Hollywood Towers, seems like a decent hotel ?

it is, bit of a walk through the Miracle Mile shops, nothing serious though, maybe 10 mins to strip

Re the Platinum, it is quicker to get to the strip from a room there than from a room in the Bellagio for example

Thanks, really can't decide :p. My first time there and we're only there for 3 nights.

Planet Hollywood - £320
Planet Hollywood Towers - £320
Platinum - £230

Think I'll book one of the three..... guess there's no right or wrong choice :p

all are good, Platinum is perhaps more suited to folks that have been before and are looking for quailty and value above the "Vegas experience" the other 2its a case of better room (tower) v casino resort experience ( PH)

Well we have finally decided on the Palazzo as our main hotel for 3 nights in Sep. £250 for 3 nights, so pretty good deal for Palazzo.

Just need to book another Hotel for our 1st night. We are staying at the GC south rim for one night inbetween. Unfortunately it happens to be a Saturday night, so it will be hard to find a good deal. Best deal I can find at the moment is Mandalay Bay for £77.

You are right - dont fly to Vegas if you dont have to, there is more choice and lower fares flying to LA. And the drive is fun.

It is fun unless you encounter a tornado-esque storm en-route!!

Just glad I was in an SUV with mailboxes and tractor tyres being swept across the highway in a huge flood!!!

For Rotty really, but happy for anyone to get involved if they can help! Looking to book a stag do in Vegas for around 12 people. Dates are 28 June - 2 July. Any tips for best hotel / flight prices? We're thinking Caesars for best value Vegas experience?

Caesers is the worst value in Vegas, a cluster**** of a mess playing on a name to charge silly prices

Give me a bit more time and I will look some stuff up for you

what's the budget per person ?

You're a star mate - really appreciate it! We don't have a budget per se, please do give us a few options and your suggestions with them. We have different people wanting to spend different amounts. Ideally we would have 4 sharing a large room (1 x King / 2 x Queens/Doubles would do us fine). The key here is value for money - £50per person per night is the max we could go to. We would prefer to be on the strip so we can easily access everything. I am an ex-poker player and would like a decent poker room for $500NL or less...this is not essential however, just handy. I'd also like your advice on soft cash games, best tourneys, and how to acheive the best comps, as I know you've been there a lot. We would also like a decent pool area.

EDIT - Some quotes through for you to compare:

The below includes return flights from Heathrow T5 with BA & are based on 4 sharing a room for 4 nights as per dates above.

Bellagio: £1099per person (Deluxe Quad room)
Wynn: £1119per person (Double Deluxe room)
Ventian: £1119 per person (VeneziaBella Quad Suite)

you really want 4 guys to to room ?

are direct flights important ?

I'd say given there budget direct flights aren't an option! I'd much rather get a cheap flight with a stop over and spend the extra cash on not getting squeazed into a room with 4 other guys!

Think off the strip would be a good idea too, if they rent an apartment they could cram as many people in as they like!

If all your going to do is the classic stag do stuff 1k each could get you something brilliant closer to home, remember also that fun in Vegas is anything but cheap!

Had a real good look around and the flights are horrible money on those dates, high 700s and around 820 direct so while the deals you have been offered don't look good they poss aren't that bad

having said that I would really think about this 4 to a room thing, what they mean by a quad room at most hotels is 2 double beds, I would go to a cheaper hotel and have 2 to a room

I would actually suggest you stay at the Platinum

http://www.theplatinumhotel.com/

A 1000sq ft suite would run about £115 an night with taxes and has ( assuming you ask for this config ) 2 double beds and a double sofa bed as well as balcony, full kitchen and a jacuzzi

it is 10 mins walk from the centre of strip ( the absolute centre ) but most big hotels take longer than that to get out of :p

you can put more in a room but you would be very comfortable with 3 to a suite ( a double bed or double sofa bed each ) and the total with direct flight would run at about £980 each , cheaper hotels and a connecting flight could bring this down to around 800 still with only 2 to a room

as I say the flights are a killer on those days, we are going late July and have direct flights and 8 nights in decent hotels for 600 each

For hotel booking you can never go wrong with http://bookit.com/ and use the mystery room, more become available closer to the time. Always the best deals on there especially closer to the time, assuming there is no major event.

Thought I'd post in here, as fingers crossed, Rotty will check it, and cast his eye over it. A mate from Uni is heading over there for a conference, so I'm going over for 4 nights. Booze, good food & lots of gambling!

Booked flights to Vegas with BA (£600 rtn from Newcastle via T5) for 4 nights last weekend of January. Thurs - Mon.

Looking for a plan of action really, and any help / pointers / suggestions please :)

Rotty - we are taking your advice, and staying at The Platinum, but have not yet booked as you stay there a lot, you may be able to get us a better rate?

Best price I can see is using booking.com £317.05 checking in Thurs 24th; checking out Mon 28th. Best rooms? Will the $20 work with them?

Best poker rooms? I'll be looking to play $1-$2NL mainly, and a couple of tournaments no doubt.

Also - anything in particular we should do? We'd both like to fire some automatic weapons, and we both like good food. We'd also like reccomendations for a good steakhouse.

We're not massive clubbers, but we'll maybe go to one on Sat night? Reccomendations? Also - he is a fan of ladies that dance for him while he pays them, best one in town?

£317 is not bad for 4 nights over a weekend, re $20 trick, rooms are much of a muchness tbh so there isn't much to gain other than a better view

Re $1/2 poker , it's everywhere, near you Flamingo and Ballys are soft games though Planet Hollywood prob softest

All tourneys below $100 are crapshoots, above that I would recommend the one at A ria and really recommend a trip to Binions on a Saturday/Sunday for the deepstack

The Gun Store on Tropicana is fine for your shooting needs, there are others but I have always gone to that one

3 Steakhouses for you to choose from IMO based on your budget, none are cheap and (prices are for starter, main, side and 2 or 3 beers or a shared bottle of wine, included tax and tip)

Circus Circus steakhouse (don't worry about where it is, its independently owned) would be around $80 per person

Del Frisco would run out at about $110 per person

and the best would probably be Prime but this will be around $130 per person

would recommend a trip to http://hotnjuicycrawfish.com/ for a cheap pig out, messy but great fun

Can give you other recomendations if you let me know sort of thing you are looking for

re "gentlemans establishments" Spearmint Rhino or Olympic Gardens, don't go in a taxi as the lub pays them around $50 for bringing you and you will then be charged admission, ring the club, they will send limo , tip driver $20 and you will get in for nothing, they are topless only

Nightclubs, XS/Tryst/Marquee/Chateau/Haze

Clubs are normally hard for blokes on own to get into but you should be ok in Ja, will be pricey though, $10 beers/ $15 spirits, if you want a table you will need bottle service $300+

A few of us are looking at Circus Circus because it is cheap and themed. Anyone have any experience with this one?

don't, just don't

seriously don't :p

it's well away from everywhere else and a real dump

while they might not be as cheap look at Harrahs/Ballys/Monte Carlo/Flamingo even the excalibur

The Quad(imperial palace) is low end and has a great location and while not great is still better than CC is every respect

Yikes, I'll pass on this info to the guy organising! Thanks!

I'm heading over in June next year...5th time in 6 years :D

Costing us avg £8 p/n...14 nights, split between 7 in the Flamingo and 7 in Planet Hollywood.

Comped a total of 10 nights and paying for 4 (Gotta love those Total Reward cards).

Stayed in Planet Hollywood before and in my eyes it's got one of the best locations/casino's on the strip. That's of course my own opinion.
