Hi Rotty,

Asking for you expertise here :D

A few of us going to Vegas next year. So far will be at least 6 of us ( 3 couples ). Would it be better to try and arrange some sort of apartment or just book 3 rooms at the same hotel ?

Scanned through this thread, got any good recommendations on decent hotels in a good area as we'll only be there for about 3 nights.

Thanks !

Good timing, only got back last night :p

what's the room budget per night ( and very iimportantly does it take a weekend in ) and what are your priorities ?

Hope you had a good time, will be the first time for us, so not really sure what to expect really !!

Budget, umm no real budget but don't want to go too crazy ? £150 a night sound reasonable ? Will get there Saturday night and leave around Tuesday night ish.

We had an awesome time, thanks

spent an absolute load but hardly skimped :p

Rates are much more on a weekend

at £150 per night ( I assume you mean per room ) I would just book the Bellagio, right in the middle of everything and the full Vegas experience

thanks, guessing there are no decent apartments ?

If I wanted to spend a little less what would your next choice be ?

£150 a night per room would be 'fine'. No idea how that relates to other hotels....

£150 a night is about average. It gets you in the nice hotels, but small change in comparison to some. There are some rooms that are $40,000 PER NIGHT !

I'm sure you can get a nice apartment, and it might be economical to do so, but you'd miss out on the experience of being on the strip.

Also, nowhere but LV can you stay in some of the best hotels in the world for so little - why would you pass the opportunity up?

For the sort of money you are talking you can have your pick of the top places, Bellagio, Wynn, Encore etc. You can't really go wrong.

Use this thread to find the best deals: http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/travel-discussion/704925/

Always book direct with the hotel, its cheaper and you can usually cancel for no cost if you find something else.

Have a look at the Platinum, big suites and great value, 10 mins walk to the centre of the strip

dont worry mate, most of us on here cant either. Vegas has some serious high rollers about though who can :( its like a whole different world.

if you do stay at the bellagio, the lobby / casino is like one big fashion parade for all those with fashion accessory girlfriends and money up to their eyeballs.

I just got back from a Midwest trip and paid £35-£40 a night to stay at Bill's Gamblin' Hall. Perfectly decent hotel and opposite the Bellagio / Caesars, so right in the middle of it all for a fraction of the price. We even had a view of the fountains on both stays.

Bills is a great location ( probably the best in Vegas ) and the rooms surprisingly reasonable for a building of it's age, they are by no means luxurious but I have used them for a short stay and wouldn't hesitate to do again

£150 is overkill IMO. I stayed in the Planet Hollywood which I found to be fantastic and it was only £37 a night during the week. Even £70 a night gets you a suite in some of these places if you go midweek.

Sorry to bump an old thread but i wanted to ask your advice if thats ok Rotty.

Planning on going Vegas again.

Wanting to go somewhere thats cheap and reasonable. I've seen your recommendation about Planet Hollywood. I've also been looking around and tropicana caught my eye. What's it like ? Just had a refurb and its supposed to be very good. Getting good reviews on trip advisors etc..

Suggestions ?

I hear the trop is very good since the new owners took over, location a bit pants though but if you can live with that, PH is excellent but will cost more

Platinum is amazing value but 10 mins walk to centre of strip ( take that from room in Bellagio though :) )

Go rooms in the Flamingo are nice, hotel a bit crap though

some good rates coming up at Treasure Island this year too

Thanks for the advice :)

Price for flights for 2012 has gone through the roof :( Booking with virgin holidays who are still charging the same rates as 2010 as the 2011 brochure doesnt come out till next month.

I was hugely happy with Planet Hollywood MrLOL. Although I'm not one for spending hundreds of pounds a night I like to stay in decent hotels and Planet Hollywood met my expectations of 'a fantastic Vegas hotel'.

You'll be very pleased - even the standard Hollywood Hip room is absolutely fine.

Flight prices are bonkers - have a look at a flight to LA. You will probably find it cheap enough to cover the cost of hiring a car and driving to Vegas. That way you get a bit of a road trip on the go as well :)

I'd be tempted to bin Virgin Holidays as well. I would be amazed if you cannot get a better deal by booking flights and accomodation seperately. I booked PH direct with PH for just £36 a night last September. It's all refundable as well so you can keep chopping and changing right up to when you go!

Hi guys! I'm going to vegas in April and am looking for a recommendation for just 1 night. I had to fly in early due to not being able to get a direct flight on the day I originally planned (I'm going with work). I'd like the hotel I stay in to be near to the Cosmopolitan where I will be staying for the rest of my trip (another 4 nights).

So far, it seems to be between Planet Hollywood (opposite the cosmopolitan), MGM grand, Bally's, Monte Carlo or the Luxor (bit further away). Price needs to be no more than £50'ish really, I'm going a day early to chill out and get my bearings so don't want it to be ridiculously expensive if I can help it.
