Vegas Hotels

PH and Bally's are the 2 nearest

PH is the better but Ballys ok for 1 night if you get a north tower room

Monte Carlo would suffice but getitng past City Center was a pain last year, maybe they have improved thing

MGM some distance and not that great amyway

Luxor a good distance away and not very good

Bills is well located, basic but ok and always a good price, Paris is in right area too, may be a bit pricey

Wow quick reply Rotty :D

Do you have any other recommendations? On google maps they look quite close but obviously it doesn't show the scale of the place :)

That covers most of it

in terms of scale the Luxor would be about 40 mins walk, MGM 25mins and PH about 10 mins

If you were on own and just 1 night I would use Bills, from room to dead centre of strip in 5 mins

5 more days booked at The Platinum starting 2 weeks today :D

Looked at PH, but why change when The Platinum was perfect last time.

Cannot wait to be back and this time funds have been allocated for gambling so no scrounging around the wallet (even though we were about $700 up last time from said funds :D).

just about to book Planet Hollywood which works out to be £320 over 3 nights. ( over a weekend unfortunately )

However just noticed the Platinum and it comes to £246 for what seems a 'nicer' room.

What do you reckon guys ?

Friends we're going with is staying at the flamingo if that's any help ?

I just booked PH on a Tuesday night for £55. The price fluctuates daily, always check the PH website then take a look at lastminute or expedia for a price in £. If your card gives you a good exchange rate with little commission/fees it may work out cheaper booking directly with PH.

Just seems like such a ripoff when the experience is the same as going during the week, where I paid literally £110 for 3 nights in the same room..

tell me about it, just bad planning i suppose and the flight times / prices.

Just looking at booking our honeymoon for the end of June this year. Been looking at the hotel prices, and they vary quite majorly, with a huge amount of options available. I have had a look at the Wynn today and it works out at around £850 for 7 nights, but there is also a $20 a night service charge and 12.5% tax. I had a look at the Platinum rooms, but I don't really think these are suitable for a honeymoon. Bellagio is also about the same, but saw the Trump International Hotel has a City View Suite (Late Check-Out) for £379 for the entire stay. Not sure what this place is like though. Same price for tax and service charge too. Why is this so cheap?

Have you got any suggestions for where to stay for our honeymoon Rotty? We were planning on flying into Vegas, staying there for 7 nights, and then driving to LA in a hire car, but looking at the flights it might work out cheaper if we were to fly into LA first and then drive to Vegas, or perhaps fly to LA, spend out 7 nights there first, and then drive to Vegas to spend the other 7 nights there and then fly out from there. Too many options! Anyone else done the honeymoon thing, and have suggestions as to what I should do?

We're planning on going on the 20 / 21st June for 7 nights, and then the rest in LA (but as mentioned can switch the stay times around for locations).

You are right - dont fly to Vegas if you dont have to, there is more choice and lower fares flying to LA. And the drive is fun.

Hehe so you've done the drive then? What car did you hire and what did it cost you? I am really looking forward to the drive, it has been something I've wanted to do for a very long time :)

Platinum is excellent, I have stayed there 3 times, it is a walkto the strip but no more than it is from your room in a big strip hotel

Flamingo is fime if in a "Go" room , the base rooms are poor

In some ways I prefer weekdays, as it's much quieter. But the you miss out on all the live bands playing in the casinos, and the general weekend party atmosphere.

But it's simple business same number of hotel rooms probable 3x+ people equals prices is bound to go up.

Trump is cheap because of the poor location

for a honeymoon I would look at the following

Bellagio - the stereotype Vegas luxury resort, best location in town, glamorous feel but wooms are tradiatinal rather than modern

Palazzo - nice rooms and smart hotel, better that Veb=netian but a bit lifeless

Wynn/Encore - beautiful hotels ,prob the best but the location is not perfectm Encore nicer than Wynn , Wymmmarginally better located of the 2

A ria - lovely hotel but a bit of a bugger to get to from strip

Cosmopolitan - only a few months old, getting good reviews but some servie issues and a bit bland from outside

Trump has a poor location in relation to what Rotty? Is it in a bad area, just off the strip and that's the main thing? Part of me thinks that we should just stretch for something really special like the Bellagio or the Wynn / Encore, after all it is a once-in-a-lifetime thing and we need to make the most of it. I will also definitely be trying the $20 trick :D

If you are going to drive between Vegas and LA I would suggest you avoid driving to Vegas on a Friday and from Vegas on a Sunday

it's quite a bit off the strip and next to a noisy rail line and interstate

you mean the $20 bribe ? ;)

If you are there for 7 nights $20 is unlikely to get you anywhere at somewhere like the Bellagio
