US: Vikings - anyone else watching this ?

Latest episode (5) of season 3 has a very nice twist at the end - don't think I saw that coming ha

Liking the show a lot though - there's going to be one almighty confrontation pretty soon!

The kings daughter in law though - phwoar! Athelstan is one lucky "priest" ;)

Overall though vikings lacked the sparkle, some nice battle scenes and characters but it was a poor mans spartacus and an even poorer game of thrones. I also am not sure why the nudity was shown rarely and not fully, yet they were happy to show violence on a mass scale.
Spartacus is about having the maturity level of Channel 5 when it comes to sex and violence, ie showing as much of it as they can simply because they can show it, with only John Hannah's exclamations anywhere near actual entertainment...

GoT is very much a massive drama-llama, albeit a very engaging one.

Vikings aims to be far more subtle in its approach, I think. It doesn't suddenly plunge you into anything or try for the shock/wow factor, but still manages to drag you into it. For me, Vikings succeeds where Spartacus, True Blood and so many other similar shows just fail to deliver.

Watched this back to back... season 1 was great, season 2 got confusing with the amount of kings, earls and princesses etc

They all looked the same in season 2 lol

Season 3 is not vital for me to watch it imo but if I am bored may do:)

I, personally, think that Vikings is largely excellent. Superior to Spartacus and probably in line with Game of Thrones, however you're crazy :p if you think True Blood is anything other than brilliant.

Enjoying season three so far, Norse history is absolutely fascinating.

My Mrs finds it really engaging, ergo it is most likely a pile of steaming crap... and from those episodes I've seen, the way they draw it out and have so much happen to all the characters as if it were Eastenders/Emmerdale, my estimation is proving correct! :D
