Thinking of getting 100 meg guys

Can anyone tell me what it's like for p2p traffic in terms of management etc
As I like to download large Erm Linux distros currently with sky which peaks out at 7meg but I can run that full hilt 24/7 and they don't seem to bother

Have just got Virgin 50mb installed and everything seems great apart from upload..

Get 5.8/s downloads and speedtests all show 50.89+ however the upload seems to be stuck at 0.75mb and is very slow to get there!

I'm obviously not in a 5mb upload area but expected a steadt 1.75mb however?

Any ideas?

Still going strong it seems. Shame about people on the otherside of Leeds!

I have read a lot of threads how recently Vm have got a new Traffic managment running, my 360 keeps diconnecting from gaming servers..bvut not Live, Youtube is having trouble loading etc...is their any truth to this..seems a bit odd and others are reporting it.

yeah they are doing something for sure, crippling connections based on type of use and not actual use, try hooking to newsgroups server, torrents or well known streaming services in the evening and you'll be lucky if you see a quarter of what your paying for regardless of whether your downloading GB's or 10mb

thank you, very good info, and i can see me probably changing soon because i can see me getting letters soon, infact i'm surprised i havent had any already !

this link was also in that thread at the current end...

with this bit being very interesting
The main immediate action will be new rules taking effect on May 25 by which providers must make it clear to consumers exactly how they’ll be affected by throttling, traffic management or data use caps. It look as if officials hope this information will be enough to let competition do its work, with providers that impose excessive restrictions being driven out of business as consumers move elsewhere.

How those rules work in practice could be questionable: for example, will ISPs be allowed to reserve the right to change traffic management policies without affected customers being allowed to cancel a minimum-term contract?

going back into student housing in a month (in halls now) and cant wait to be back on 50 meg :) hope its still as stable as it used to be here.

is asking for further info about the "mates package" from current employees a no no here?

Well I had been in contact with the twitter team.

If you'd like I can keep an eye on things from here and once everything is sorted I can tidy up your bill?
Mind you.. the bill is still like £93 lol

Might be getting 50mb, if I have be broadband can I just cancel once it's installed and made sure that there are no problems?

Also can you put DD-Wrt on the superhub?

My DIR-615 was replaced with a Superhub a week ago; so far so good.

I see your upload speed is good. Mine took a dive from the speed you have to 2.4meg at best since getting the Superhub and it does have the latest firmware.

There seems to be nobody who can shed any light on this issue.

I can't get over how bad the superhub is, I mean, restarting after adding a static IP, are you actually kidding me?

I've been thinking of getting 50Mb, but I don't want to ditch my Cisco 871, what kind of connectivity does it use? Can I get shot of whatever equiptment they give me, or do I have to use it?

They'll give you a Superhub but you can disable all the router capabilites and just use it as a standard modem. Takes a bit of fiddling unless they've added the software to be able to do it easily.

As a router, the Superhub can suck my ****. Paired it with a DIR-615 and I haven't had any faults. When it was just the Superhub it was up and down like a prossies knickers.
