Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Fair enough I think I get it. Is it worth upping my nas' mtu so that it can push things out faster? I assume then if it has a high mtu the connecting device will then link at the highest mtu and bingo?

Finally got my 50meg line activated this afternoon.

Windows 7 is by default using Ethernet II which has an MTU of 1500 also windows 7 autotunes it's self

If you having problems with your line then contact VM twitter. The only MTU I see on the hub is DMZ(DMZ Address) you don't need this on.

Many websites stopped loading for me at all, work fine on any computer connected by wireless but don't work on mine connected by an Ethernet cable. Crap.

It's not Windows firewall blocking the connections and I can't even access the SuperHub through my browser any more.

EDIT: it's definitely my PC going nuts.

Just used TCP Optimiser and everything is back to normal.

Yay for easy solutions!

He may have just had a bad batch or something after the initial signal testing and replacing connectors about 20 minutes~ he was in my house for about an hour lol

Yeh I am hoping that it was just a bad batch, I dont usually have a problem
with Virgin Media equipment but there is always a 1st time i suppose lol.

i'm really put off upgrading from 10mb as that will mean getting a superhub. My light use parents have the 30mb service and even they have noticed issues since moving from a linksys (tomato firmware).

I've had lots of problems from moving from 20 to 50 and using the superhub. At least once a day the hub needs rebooted as all machines on the network lose connection to the internet.
