Virgin Media Discussion Thread

I'm still having issues with wireless speeds even with my old netgear router as an access point. Thing sucks. :(

Yeah, I've noticed some issues with wireless, even when I use my trust d-link router as an access point. Im just waiting patiently for the new firmware.

these drops, slow downs and shut offs can't all be down to shoddy firmware, they are trying to control peoples access directly, and it's going wrong (or right if your loss is saving them overloading headaches) i'm sure of it

Neat, thanks for the replies :) - looking forward to HDTV too :)

Edit: Argh, just ordered the broadband, tv and phone package and the gf decides she only wants the broadband option. This should be fun...

Just tell her sometimes in life, you don't always get what you want .... then things will get real interesting :D

... or simply put another way "tough honey, too late, welcome to life, you can't always change your mind and expect everyone to pander to what you want"

Hi all, i live in SE London and have nothing but problems with Talk Talk for the past couple of months extremely slow... Can anyone advice me how you would rate the 50mg service from Vrigin since i want to swap and my contract is up next month.

Thnx for responses.

Dont know why but im tempted to upgrade to 100mb from our 50mb lol, i dont think it will cost us much more, currently paying around £110 a month, for 3 boxes, 1hd, 1 standard and a V+ box, all channels under the sun, and phone plus the 50mb net.

Just not sure ill use the 100mb, unless im downloading from steam maybe, as that usually near enough pulls 5mb/sec most of the time using the ireland server.

Hi all,

I have the original 50mb modem that was released before the superhub (the clamshell shaped thing), I downgraded to 10mb a while back when I lost my job, does anybody know whether they will upgrade me to 30mb while using this modem, or will I have to have the superhub? I can't see why I would need it as this modem is the 50mb modem, but thought I would check :)

Thanks.

Just tell them you want to stick with the modem you got or no deal.
The upgrade will be done over the phone.

Phoned up to get 50Mb yesterday (Currently on 30Mb)...I didn't mind the extra pm cost but they wanted £40 to install it.

Call again and ask for a self install kit then as above the upgrade will be done over the phone.

I think my upload got upgraded last night. I now have 5Mbit/s there abouts upload speed :) yea.

My Superhub is still at R26 though. Firstly how do you upgrade it? And secondly, should I??

thx
