Virgin Media Discussion Thread

currently on a 12 month contract with 3 (regret it) and i just need a good 1 gig internet plan.
I called the sales line as a new customer and got the 1gbps, calls and o2 sim for £45 which didn't seam to bad they wouldn't reduce price further if I dropped the sim.

Just had an email offering a free upgrade to a superhub 5. Given I'm on a superhub 2 that I've had for nearly 10 years, it's probably a good idea as it'll crap out at some point

Was on 100mb and just renegotiated another contract through retentions which includes an upgrade to 200mb, only they said it will take 30 days for the speed upgrade to take effect, is this normal?

Connection been broken since last night :( (F010156249 PO14) eta late today. Good job I'm in the office today, but I get more connection drops with Virgin than others. Only short drops normally for a couple of minutes. Normally every few days. I'll be going back to Vodafone July 2023.

is there a fault lookup page?

Just them hedging their bets imo, I've had many increases over the years and most have been near instant. Can try a hard reset of the hub, means you have to set it up again though.

Are the HH5's any good, we are using a HH3 in modem mode. Is it worth the bother to get the upgrade. IE we get a small amount of ping spikes as follows.
Thats just my gateway:
Code:

I've been using my Hub 3 in modem only mode connected to a TP-Link Archer C7 AC1750 (must be several years old now) and my Hub 5 has just arrived and i'm wondering if the 5 is a good enough all-rounder to do without the separate router?

Probably is, what the VM hubs usually lack are advanced config stuff so depends what you do with your Archer router.

Been using the Hub 4 for ages with zero issues.

Many thanks, yes I am aware of that page, just wondered if there was more detailed faults page. It's fixed now apparently, so fingers crossed.

I've got a SH5 being delivered Friday for my 100/10 connection, straight into modem only mode.

I doubt VM would divulge any more granular detail (i.e. exact location of a cabinet fault or break etc lol) than the basics of yes there's a fault and approximate ETA to fix.

I depends what package you have. I use A C7 as an AP with Openwrt. If you need to it to handle more than 300MBps that will pin the cpu around 80% over wifi. We have ordered a Mikrotik Hap AX2 for a longer term solution. still waiting for it to arrive.
