Virgin Media Discussion Thread

I can't see any being accepted through that link above, I'm on Gig1 and got rejected.

W00t, I got an email today saying I am getting it :D

I have a hub4 and am on 350 Meg line. They only sent me the hub 4 18 months ago and that was something that I never asked for at the time.

Can anybody help me with advice to get a new deal?
I've been with Virgin from day one and before that NTL and C&W so one of their oldest customers.
I'm paying £69 for M350, TV and landline but I haven't had the TV plugged in for 2 years because I have a brilliant satellite system that feeds the house and we don't need the landline.
I actually got through to an English speaking girl in retentions because online there is an M500 + landline deal for £38 - sorry for new customers only.
Unbelievable I've been with them from day one but they can't switch me to that.
OK, I'll have just the M350 for £34 so take the TV and landline off and charge me £34 - no we can't do that.
The best offer I've got is the same package for £48, a saving of £22 but still not good enough.

Today I've an email back from Lila saying I could be switched on between Dec & March but Virgin has always been brilliant for me so I wouldn't mind paying for 1/2 gig for £38.
The girl then asked who Lila were
I said you need to do your homework because they are going to obliterate Virgin, you will have to compete, she went online and said "OMG, is this a real thing?".

Anyway, anybody know any secret code words so I can get that New Customer deal for £38?

Secret words are.... Cancel my account, I'm leaving. Then wait for retentions to call or text.

I would love a hub 5 but its flexibility is restricted vs the hub 4. Having the 2.5gb port would be fantastic for my use case and the wifi6 would help out no end with my latest devices in terms of speed and connectivity reliability.

I called to cancel my gig service as it went to £80.25!! I’m back down to £46 on a 18 month contract but I need to keep the hub4 apparently… we shall see what time brings.

So VM retentions just called me back this morning, initially offered me the same Ultimate Volt bundle for £55pm, after the original guy when I rang to cancel offered it at £70pm. Then after a quick "nah I'm ok" offered an additional £7 manager discount, so got it for £48pm. :D

The only caveat to why it was so cheap is because I'm an O2 customer, apparently that equates to around a £25pm discount she said on her system. The O2 SIM I got late last year purely to get the free Gig1 upgrade lol - just £8pm with 30Gb data I chucked in my iPad.

So effectively paying £54pm now for the Ultimate Volt bundle with O2 SIM, I'm happy and call that a win :D

(meanwhile my brother in law shudders as he just renewed with VM a month ago and took the first offer of £99pm, told him to play the game but he couldn't be bothered lol)
Count yourself lucky! :)

I was on the old Ultimate Oomph (with the 2 boxes, SkySports, Cinema, BTSport, M500 and unlimited SIM, phone line) and was paying £70. The best deal they would give me was £89 even though new customers pay £85 for the equivalent Volt package.

I cancelled but got no call back from retentions so a few days before it ended I accepted the £89; in order to do the double cancellation trick which has worked for me in the past (and also because I was away at the time and needed continuous internet).

I then cancelled the £89 package and still got no call back for the month so my only option was to let the cancellation run it's course and sign back up in my partners name. Did it online and customised one of the Volt packages to what I really needed just to save cost and ended up as £56month (1Gb BB, BTSport (for Champions League), 100Gb SIM, Phoneline)

The account was cancelled midnight the one day and started back up again the following afternoon in partners name. Even got them to activate and retain my old 360 box from the previous account with my recordings on. Just got to see if I can get a Hub5 instead of the 4 even though I prefer the styling of the Hub4!

Would have loved to have dealt with folks you talked to but it's the luck of the draw and they must have been fed up with giving me great deals which I've had in the past! :)

The crap we have to go through to get a deal.....well, not even deals, just a fair price.....

I just spent an hour on the phone renegotiating my contract and until I say this thread I thought i'd done quite well but it seems as though i'm going to paying about par.

I had been paying £80 p/m for 350mbs BB, all the sports channels in HD and Talk More Anytime. After looking at the website and seeing that new customers would pay £85 p/m for the Ultimate Volt deal I eventually got them to offer me that for £89 p/m. Quite how some people are getting for £50 p/m or so is beyond me.

He must know you swore blind you would buy a 4080 on release but now you've reneged on that promise and use a tiny thing like cost as an excuse!

We forumites know never to trust your word again! :p

Ps. Did you see any difference, maybe in your TBB, going from 4 to 5? ;)

Don't blame me, blame Jensen and the Conservatives :p

As for have I a seen a difference? Apart from benchmarks, not really to be honest. Probably won't until I play Cyberpunk or MSFS. Come to think about it my epeen does feel a little bigger and firmer, but still not enough to satisfy the 4090 lady.
