Virgin Media Discussion Thread

What i'm enjoying less is that the password on the underside of the Hub doesn't work so I cant actually get in the thing and setup the wifi.

I am on 1gb too with a Hub 5 I got lucky as it seems they do pick random....I bought a network card off Amazon was 940mb before always now 1145mb always.(dont really need the extra 200mb but for £29 one off it's worth)

I am actually pleased with VM so far no issues but I can see how awkward it could be if something goes wrong from the comments here.

I went to 1GB as no one else offered it in my area whereas BT before I was paying £38 a month or so for 65mb speed which was a rip off.

My Hub 5 just arrived, updated and into modem mode. 0 difference to my connection speed or latency over the Hub 3. Not sure if I was expecting any difference but at least I'm ready for any faster broadband packages now I suppose.

Edit: Just been on the support chat and got upgraded to 1Gig Ultimate Bundle with everything two 360 boxes all the channels etc for 60 per month.

1Gig profile active already but limited through USG3P at the moment.

Virgin seem to be pushing Gig1 + phone line + Volt sim and the streaming box thingy for about 45 quid. I am tempted by the Gig1 but dont really need the other things. Has anyone been able negotiate the addition of say BT sports onto the streaming box? From the above posts it looks like £45 is their best offer and isnt likely to change. I can probably replace my current sim with the Volt one so the deal looks decent enough, just wish it wasnt 18 months.

I guess they Fear FTTP.
FTTP rolling past my door as we speak, Can't Wait for Virgin to update their prices next year!
Ah, you've tempted me further - Virgin give you the option to terminate early if they raise prices dont they? I believe they raised them in March this year and with the way things are going they will likely go up next year too..

I take it you are willing to take the same chance?

I was sick of waiting for a faster conection being stuck at the far end on FTTC 38/10.
Yes ASAP.

Hi all,

I recently changed from M350 full house etc to just Gig1 with a phone line. Old Hub 3 and Tivo being sent back, Hub 5 installed, not tested via wire but uploads all seem around 50mb give or take on the upstairs wifi PC's, though my PC with an AC68 PCI card is only getting 600mb on 5GHz with variable upload, 0 today, and disconnects that had me turn to 2.5GHz.

Not sure if I need to call VM and have it looked at, will try wired at the weekend. But wondering if I should go Modem mode and rewire my old Asus 86 router. Only been running a couple of days.

My contract runs out next month with Virgin 200 it's my first contract so never had to try and get a new deal before.

I have the Mixit TV and phone and have been paying £45 a month.

What would people recommend I try and get a deal for and who is best to contact? I wouldn't mind the 1gb service but don't think it's available although it's in the options on my Virgin account to choose?

Once you're out of contract phone up and say you'd like to put your cancellation notice in. If they ask why then just say you can't afford it anymore. They'll make an offer, then a second one if you decline it but if you want the best you need to go through with giving your notice to them (30 days) and they will then phone you after a few days to persuade you not to cancel.
