Excellent, is that price into the foreseeable or after a year or something jump up to stupid amount of money?

I'm going to give that package a try with retentions see what they offer if anything. I will factor in a rise of inflation plus 3.9% next April though and that will be charged on the list price of 136 or something so getting on for 20 quid increase if inflation stays at 10%, still not bad value imo.
Of course inflation will hopefully be lower by then.

Probably have to pay some sort of installation fee as well

Cancelled my service a few days ago, coming to end of the contract. Got the call today, originbally was paying £41 for 500meg. Got them down to £31 for a new 18month contract, they offered £37, my argument was there will be a 14% rise next april to get it lower..

When I called to say I signed up to another provider and that I simply wanted to cancel, I had 3 separate offers trying to make me stay. Each time I said it doesn’t matter what you offer me, I’ve already signed up to another service, please just cancel. Got pretty fed up by the 3rd time, and simple said you should have given an existing customer of over 8 years a better deal.

Yeah I called up as an existing customer and wouldn't give me anything like the above deals so left as it is and will cancel at end of contract to give fttp a go. Assuming that it is still at a reasonable price.

Getting ridiculous all this mucking about.

Virgin called today after I cancelled but I didn't let him get to the prices I told them I'm leaving to a full fibre provider which I am.
Samsies :D

Cancelled my VM contract yesterday, the web chat kept asking questions about my usage and where I was moving to, and how much. I refused to answer and then they got quickly to just cancelling. Had a call this morning from VM to "ask what went wrong" and I just said I'm moving to another provider and there was nothing they could do to tempt me back.

My Aquiss order is currently pending but some information already populating, so can't wait to switch over to the new connection when I can :D

Still waiting for retentions to call back, cancelled last week, two days later got a call from retentions which I missed, I do need to rengotiate with Virgin as only other option for me is FTTC, although Im guessing they are having quite a busy month

Really? I don't think VM not allow to do this?

Yep, cancelling after almost 28 years with them.

I do wonder as time goes on if they will be more belligerent and less obligiing with the deals, I feel like every man and his dog are trying to use this last price rise under the current contracts to squeeze VM into getting a better deal. I have seen some of the deals people on here have had and I got no where near those in my first two interactions with VM. Were you determined to leave or was it a case of them not doing enough for you to stay ?

If you have real FTTP in your area from a decent provider then the only reason to stick with VM is if you want to watch sport or for some reason want to watch something that is left on linear pay TV and hasn't been withdrawn to a studio-specific streaming service. At that point negotiating £50-£60/month for broadband, BT Sport and Sky Sports is a fairly decent deal.

It's simple. Unless you give your cancellation noticed and have them call you back after, you won't get a good deal.

They couldn't offer me a good enough deal, and as BT have a couple of offers on at the moment (will be going for the 500Mb at £31), which expire tomorrow, decided to leave.

They couldn't offer me better than BT, absolute joke, and some of the prices they were offering I regarded as an insult, and told them as much, ie 500Mb for £44.

They said I'll be regarded as a new customer after three months, I said great, probably get a better deal in two years when the BT contract ends!

TBH, I'm hoping that these companies offering a 1Gb service for £25-30 will be operating in my area in two years.
