Virgin Media Discussion Thread

I've been with VM for nearly 22 years and this is the first time they've just said a straight "no".
Does anyone have any special phone numbers or tricks to try to get some kind of offer out of them?

Nice to see others in the 20+ club, but that is our problem we have to let go, cancel and move around with different providers and companies there is no company loyalty they give new customers far superior deals then I ever got with 20 years loyalty.

VM are also masterful at holding onto you using their deceptive tactics, ie you want to reduce your monthly bills and move to another ISP provider, VM will remove the discounts or package price then tell you your new monthly sub price is going to cost £50 more, forcing you to stick with VM.

You have to avoid all this and just be brave and call up and Cancel everything VM related, wait for them to ring you back to keep you with better deals or check their website and Hotukdeals and even Topcashback/quidco since they all have VM bundle deals for new customers. You can use a different family members name also as long as 18+.

So use their deceitful nature against them, yes you are a new customer to them even after 20 years:cry:

can't believe the price some of you's getting on the 1gb line, i need to get onto them lol, £62 a month
since came out.
BT will be finished in my area come oct/nov. this gives me another option & a lot cheaper, but hoping to get this lowered with VM.

The way VM will pitch it is if you were to take out all the other services, TV, landline, o2 sim then they can work a deal or better price for you but obviously this is still a load of manure since we have seen too many with 1gig alone for as little as £18 per month I think, but I think generally many had it around 25-35 per month.

Just fill VM full of poop. Tel them how great they have been and that you don’t want to move to a competitor and would love to stay if the bill could be reduced some how and that other people have been getting it cheaper.

Failing that just register under a new home owner name. They boil my blood sometimes these company. It’s like they have control over everyone.

Play them at their own games.

Ditching VM cable after 8 years and giving Three 5g another go. I tried it when it first launched, amazing speed but flakey connection.

Seems they have improved the stability but not quite as fast. Still getting 350mbit for £20 though and 3 months free. Over 800mbit at night.

had a rep knock on the door offering the Volt thing, 150mb for £15 for 6 months, then after that you can get the upgrade to [i think it was] 250 free if you're w/ O2. i declined. i suspect after all their drilling work a load of their cables are going to sit in the ground doing nowt.

good, lets hope so as then it may get them to consider what customers they do have with other options becoming available to people!

Will Virgin release a telephone number while still in contract?

That’s what I’m hoping - did you get the same email this morning as me?

I don’t want my landline running through my router.

I’m going to try and see if they can drop my phone line from my package and I can get a basic landline with someone else…

I guess not then!

I got an email from them stating that they are ending their landlines and all home phones are going to go via the broadband router. I don’t really want that because if my router is down it means I have no landline.

I got a text from them telling me my home phone service will be switched to their fibre network on 30th November this year. Quite an achievement really considering I left VM a few months ago and I never had a phone package with them. Just their broadband. Not sure why they a) can't tell I've never had a phone at this address nor b) why they are texting me when I am no longer a customer.

I checked the mobile number and it is a VM one so a bit confused as to why I'm getting this text. The person who owned the house before me was with Vodafone for broadband but I got the house in March 2020 and got VM a year later (didn't move in straightaway due to Covid) so if we assume Vodafone were the suppliers before I got the house then why are VM thinking I had a phone with them? Even if someone did years ago they wouldn't have used my mobile number so this sounds like VM just spamming every customer they've ever had perhaps regardless of them still being a customer or having a phone line.

100% this, I'm a SkyTV customer of 16 years and the "VIP" means I pay more than a new customer based on the renewal I've had. £70 a month up from £40. When I left Vodafone earlier this year after 27 years I didn't even get a "will you stay" message etc.

Sad to hear Sky and others doing the same tactic, but this is so important information that you won't usually get off martin lewis or anywhere, zero loyalty out there and now we know companies just pull you in and force you to stay using fraud tactics since their own website shows new customers pay less anyhow.

I would have thought watchdog, ofgem or similar governing bodies would have tried to stop this fraud but then again they probably take a hush money anyhow.

Now on the cancel merry go round.... Errr how about you don't price gouge everyone, "we can get you a deal".. Err yeah. People need to remember that all the extras like Netflix, Amazon Prime and so on all add up. I managed to get Virgin down to £23 pm earlier this year for 350/35 connection, but with volt up to 500/50. Sensible conversation and why do you insist on ******* over existing customers. The agent agreed, but there we are.
