Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Yup, not sure why the same question is being asked again tbh.

Edit he’s quoting a post from nearly a month ago.

Nope, nothing has changed!

Just thought I'd add that when they initially sent me a hub5 and upgrade to 1gig I had constant drop outs, crap range and inconsistent speeds. I then got them to send an engineer out who had to spend two hours faffing about with cables, running tests swapping to a new router.

The result was everything has been better than ever. Difference has been night and day. I went from wanting range extenders etc to having no problems whatsoever.

If anyone feels theirs is under performing try and blag an engineer visit.

This company are a bunch of jokers, upload still not fixed, they keep closing the fault hoping I don't notice, then when I complain about it they then send an engineer again to test power levels again, who says it's a networks issue and then I wait out, only for the fault to be closed again.

It's been over 8 weeks since I originally complained about the lack of progress so I've just opened a case with the ombudsman.

Seems pretty clear cut to me, they cannot deliver the upload speed that they advertise on their website and have accepted that it is their fault but just don't want to do anything about it

Do we know anybody else on RFoG with the 100Mbps Upload?
I could ask around here, but there's quite a lot of OR FTTP here and most people are with BT/EE etc, and those I know with VM are on the lower tiers.

I'd post on our local Facebook group, but that means having to deal with normal people and I'm not sure I have the patience for that!

I just want VM to say, yeah, sorry we can't do it currently, have £5/10 a month or whatever credit until we fix it. I'd be happy with that.

I now have the 6x upstream channels but it's actually slower than ~85 Mbps now and closer to 60.

Hub rebooted/factory reset/router mode/samknows etc etc etc.

In respect of upload, as posted a few days ago/posts ago, I have only recently had my Gig1 connection go live and currently only have 50mbit upload. One thing I have noticed whilst completing the odd speed test is that during peak times ie. 8-10pm whilst I achieve near 900mbit down, my upload can be as low as 10mbit.

I cant say I have noticed any real detriment to my connection, I just found it interesting that there is potentially contention issues in my area on upload and not download given the stark difference in speeds offered whereby the downstream speed is in excess of 20x the upload.
