Virgin Media Discussion Thread

I got the same deal for 70£ a month but had to wait 2 days on WhatsApp in queue for someone to off me a deal close to the new customer offer

Still not the same but less than I was paying in my last term so happy
How do you do the WhatsApp thing? I was paying about £72 a month back before this deal ran out. They won't do it now as they want £18 a month for TNT. I mentioned that they are advertising TNT for only £10 a month but still the best they could do was £93 a month.

To be fair, with the new TNT situation that is not a bad deal.

I'm paying £48 for exactly the same package as you (though on my written contract it should be ~£42) but got mine back in April and getting a good deal can be as much to do with luck rather than persistence. I'm the kind of person that will even do a double cancellation to get the best deal, which I did the time before and even then I got no better offer than the very first line of retentions I spoke to. I then had to cancel and put it in my partners name which only made it marginally better.

You might want to try putting in a cancellation again now if you're still within the 14 days and see if they will lower the price. Just make sure to un-cancel it a few days before it is set to disconnect. ;)

Can you post a screenshot of your package/deal? I think you've misunderstood what the package is? You can't get that for £48 a month on any retentions deal unless there's been an error.

Yes of course and the only error was that the guy that did it gave me a better deal than I asked for and we agreed on the phone! (After a mix up with them overcharging me, they went back and listened to the conversation which is why I now pay £48/month instead of the ~£42/month over the contract period shown below)

BTSport came with the Maxit TV package which is why it isn't listed.

I just... wtf. How are people on such differing price deals. Insane. I might cancel now then. We only agreed the new deal on Friday so within 14 days. Can one cancel via WhatsApp? No joke, wife was on the phone for over an hour trying to cancel and sort this deal the other day.

Just wow you must have the best price ever can't see anyone getting a better deal like

Even after 25+ years never got prices remotely like that normally it would be £100-£120 per month my end.

Id guesstimate VM are charging £80-120 for that atm but if you get a decent deal maybe £70-90 with some luck!

Hot uk deals also list VM offers time to time so worth checking there.

Should have signed up as a new customer using your wife's name, would have been cheaper. I have the above package (prior to the TNT change) for £60 a month plus I had £200 bill credit, and cash back on top.

That was a sweat waiting for that £200 topcashback to poll, heard some didn't get it!

Rang VM today to cancel. Told them I wasn't happy with the price and increases and now they have competion in my area. They didn't even attempt to offer me a better deal just cancelled without any faffing about :p FTTP, £22.50 for 900Mbps up and down here I come :D

I renewed my virgin as no FTTP here yet.

1 Gig Hub 5
2x 360 TV boxes
Mega TV, Kids, Netflix, Sky sports movies etc
£66/m

Then I’m going to be adding on TNT Sport and Sky Sports UHD for extra as I couldn’t get them to discount them anymore.

No O2 sim or anything with that.

Virgin are highly likely to call you over the coming days/weeks during your 30 day notice period and offer you a better deal although its unlikely to match your £22.50 symmetrical fttp in all honesty.

Yeah I know how the VM game works. I'm currently paying £31 for Volt 1 gig which was the best they would offer me 5 months ago. They would have to be considerably cheaper than £22.50 to make me stay when I now have fttp as an option.

Phoned yesterday and cancelled our new deal for £93 a month. The guy "tried again" on the phone. We were on hold for an hour just to cancel. Apparently couldn't better £93 so cancelled. 4 weeks to see if they call.

Impressive considering no o2 sim... didnt think one could get it that low at this point. How much extra for the TNT sports?

TNT is £18 and Sky Sports UHD is £7

They’re really all I watch on TV so worth it for me to add.
£196/m total package reduced down to £91/m with all the discounts.

It's infuriating this game you have to play. My current deal ends next week, I e already signed UK with sky, which is due to switch on 3rd Ocotber.
Got the call yesterday and bam! they've pulled me back in.
1gb
Sky sports HD, cinema, kids, tnt sports, Netflix, 2 boxes
£68 for 18 months
With sky I wasn't getting tnt or cinema and bb was 150mb, and they wanted £66.
Just wish there was a better way than doing the cancel dance

Its still not too shabby imo, sure the better deals were had few months ago and earlier this year (roughly 50-70) but prices will go up as usual to probably level things out.

Yeah I’m happy with it, was lower before but I waited around for retentions, can’t be bothered doing the dance this time so went with it.
18 months time maybe FTTP is available then I’ll go for disconnect deal.
