My new Vodaphone full fibre line comes from newly laid underground cables and then overhead along poles, we are three miles from the exchange but it makes no difference to my speed as it's running full speed at all times, I now have my own dedicated fibre link all the way back to the exchange. The max speed they can supply is 910Mbps

Last time I checked there was nothing.

I even considered going down the 5G route but the best I can get around here is 4G and its not great either (Just tested and got 2mb down and it didn't even attempt an upload lol)

I live in a village that does not have many fiber providers.

edit - Just checked BT openreach fiber checker and they say full fiber broadband will be between now and Dec 2026. I can currently only get up to 55-80mb for their superfast or up to 24mb standard broadband

VM reps just made the rounds so assuming we are going live soon.

Whats the best deals currently going? Is <£30 for 1gbit still available?

I got a deal for £35 for 500m, swapped to O2 for my sim, found a deal online at £8 for 30gig.. Got the volt thingy on both accounts for double data and double speed.. Might be worth you while looking into that.

Best I could get was £31 for 1GB plus unlimited calls and 6GB data on an O2 sim (needed for the IGB) at £6.

So £37 total.

Someone posted the day after on here that they got the same deal for £30.

And look at what post #26863 got. :/

And I've been with them for more than a quarter of a century.

But are those deals your all getting permanent? from my own experience with Virgin I think not and then after X amount of months you get a big jump back up to full price

Nothing permanent with Virgin, mine's an eighteen month contract, but due to their new policies, and god knows how much they had to pay to bent politicians to get it through, they can up the contract by the rate of inflation and 3.9% every April.

Started off at 30 for 6 months and then 50 for 18 months.

After negotiating got that down to 18 months at £40.

Then made a deal to take him for a blast in the lambo, and ended up on £35 a month for 18 months for 1Gb.
 
Its no wonder people are leaving VM in droves. In April/May best VM would offer me was £31 for Volt 1Gb with my £10 O2 Sim. Cancelled just recently and they guy on the phone didn't even bother trying to negotiate a better deal. Even if you get a good deal with VM now you've got to factor in the annual price rises every April. I'm now paying £22.50 for 900Mbps up and down for 24 months without any mid contract prices rises.

Your offer was very good for anyone who doesnt have an altnet, where you moved to sounds like an altnet.

As an example in my area I was paying £60 for 80mbit VDSL before I moved to VM.

Yeah BRSK now. So far so good. Seems more stable than VM and much much lower latency. Also forgot to mention got a £75 Amazon voucher with my sign up so thats like 3 and bit months for free

Pretty sure Three mobile broadband is the same 3.9% + inflation per year
 
After complaining to the Ombudsman about the upload speed (effectively I am never able to hit over 80 Mbps), VM have offered bill credit.

Dear ChrisD., Following an investigation into your case, and a review of the application you submitted to the Communications Ombudsman , I propose the following resolution:- I am unable to appoint you a faults manager, however I can confirm that the Network faults team are actively investigating the issue that you have been experiencing with your broadband speeds, once resolved this will resolve the issues that you have been experiencing with the broadband speeds. Please also note, due to the nature of the internet we do not guarantee a fault free service. I am happy to offer you a refund for £65.90 for the one month that you have paid for the service that you have not received, as a gesture of goodwill.

The issue remains, and has been present since the install at the end of June.

I was debating lodging a complaint with Virgin as my Gig1 service was on the 55mbit upload tier however at sometime over the past week I have now been upgraded to 110mbit and in all fairness I do typically receive in the region of the advertised speed. I suspect it helps that the town I live in has had Openreach FTTP available for around 3 years meaning that Virgin arent the sole supplier of >100mbit broadband services in the area.

In the street I live in alone, I'd estimate over 25% of properties are now on an Openreach FTTP product with the number of fibre termination boxes visible.

The issue I have is I am on the 100 Mbps upload however for whatever reason my whole area is unable to achieve much over 80 Mbps. It's taken VM 3 months to formally admit it to me.
 
Out of interest, is anyone else getting weird performance issues with usenet downloads in the last three days or so? Suddenly all downloads are "bursting", ramping up and down in speed constantly and I'm struggling to isolate the problem.
