Finally back up to full speed after sorting out wired connection to temp. home office
And sorry for another question, but will this be provided by Virgin Media or another company?Full Fibre, in all its glory. So long as they build to your address!
Virgin/O2/NextFibre I expect. But it looks like they will be wholesale, so would be a choice of the anchor tennant, virgin or possible other isp's if they launch in NextFibre wholesale. And sorry for another question, but will this be provided by Virgin Media or another company?
Ok thanks. I'm overall very happy with VM (in the minority I know) but the ping could be better and definitely would love synchronous uploadVirgin/O2/NextFibre I expect. I am happy with the reliability of their service.
My problems with them are their support when you need to call to report issues and the ball ache of going through their cancellation process every time to try and get a decent price from them.
I guess the issues come in to play when you have to speak with them, as long as I don't have to speak with them I am fine lol
Yeah, one thing that annoys me is the lack of care for long standing customers.I have both VM and OR FTTP (Via Aquiss) and despite the better latency on FTTP (6ms vs 11 to 22 on VM) I have less service interruptions/high packet loss on VM. Some of the issues on OR FTTP are short lasting only a few minutes at most, but happen at various times of the day not just overnight when it could be maintenance, and this happens at least one or two days a week and much more often that VM.
I expect many people wouldn't notice most of the shorter FTTP issues if not monitoring the service but this was a surprise. I did have issues with VM about 5 years back that lasted 2 years, but those were fixed and since then its been fine. Overall I still prefer FTTP and an ISP with good service, but VM can be good in the right area and assuming you don't need an engineer.

Yeah, I have been with them since the days of NTL\Cable Tel etcI was just about to say the same.
As one of their oldest customers (been with 'them' since it used to be Blueyonder), I absolutely detest the new contract dance I have to go through with them, every.single.time.
I expect they blacklist the old one so it can't be reused again. I don't think many would wait a week or so before getting something shiny to swap outYeah, I have been with them since the days of NTL\Cable Tel etc
I had a new router sent out a few years ago, I had it to 1 side for a week as was waiting until the weekend to change it over and then the service stopped working.
I called them up, went through their troubleshooting and then they wanted to send an engineer. I said "is it down to you sending a new router and I have not changed it over yet" He was unsure and still wanted to send an engineer.
I hung up, swapped over the router and it was working again. I was waiting until the weekend to do the change as I wfh and wanted to wait until I had more time to do it but no, VM killed off the old router because they had sent a new 1 out and their engineer was not even aware of it being sent out or if this was the issue.
Yeah, I just never had the time to get it swapped over sooner.I expect they blacklist the old one so it can't be reused again. I don't think many would wait a week or so before getting something shiny to swap out
Wouldn’t it be faster to swap the router than calling them.?Yeah, I just never had the time to get it swapped over sooner.
working during the day then had other jobs etc in the evening to do
Virgin could do 500mb for £30 or "maybe" 1 gig for £35.
Just gave them my 30 days notice to cancel and have gone through City Fibre to get Vodafone 900mbs for £29 per month. Plus we get a digital voice line too, where VM was broadband with no phone.
Never really had any issues with VM apart from when WFH they decided to firmware update me at 1:30pm and kick me out of a meeting for 10 mins! Can't have any loyalty though as they're happy to wack my prices up so I'm happy to jump ship!
