Virgin Media Discussion Thread

I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be the reason.
It absolutely was :)

'Kicked from server, reason: LPB'

I may have just ordered Gig1 as the £100 cashback makes the monthly average over the next 18 months is an astonishing £36. Granted there will be a price rise in there at some point, but I'll give it a shot.

Now I just need unify to release a router with 2.5gbe :)

Fond memories of being a LPB.

I see Virgin removed the cancellation option from the my account area. Making it more challenging for people to cancel. Not me this time, my sister-in-law. They've double the price and expect her to just accept and carry on. The more the Virgin cancellation dance takes place the more I hate this company.

Toob in my area later this year, so I'll be moving hopefully, but that's later. My sister in-law has put in her cancellation notice and we'll see what they'll offer. All she wanted was Bigger Combo bundle at new customer price, not near double.

having been with cable since it was called blueyonder, past few weeks I've seen the poles rolled up with cable thinking its for FTTP , hope its soon as my contract with virgin ends in april so can try to get better deal Im ok with having 100mb its more than enough for me without having to play the game with virgin each time trying to get better deal be nice if had other choices

Phone calls I had in the past with Virgin was like 1 hour wait on average, this time I did it online with their autobot messenger, waiting time was about 45 minutes, even when I got through and stated my contract ends soon and I want to leave so don't offer me any new contract deals he kept me waiting for 15 minutes while he looked at my account and still tried to offer me a new deal which was crap anyway, he also gave me some BS about if you go with another ISP you won't get the speed or a stablilty you have with Virgin ( lol give me a break). In the end he had to do what I wanted. I had to give him my last bill info, post code address and bank code but got there in the end, they don't make it easy and cancelling should be your right and easier IMHO. Customer service and waiting times has always been poor and the weak spot with Virgin IMHO.

VM even got pulled up on it last year about making it difficult for customers to cancel, I think there was an OFCOM investigation about it, although I don't know what the outcome was. When I've had to do it in the past I just repeatedly say 'cancel my service' to anything they say and eventually they either go through with it or they hang up.

Edit - the investigation is still ongoing: https://www.ofcom.org.uk/about-ofcom/bulletins/enforcement-bulletin/open-cases/cw_01275

I've read that more and more of the calls not being recorded / cancellations not being processed correctly. All a joke. Well they called this morning offering a pretty decent deal for her, so why the song and dance yesterday FFS.

I'll be sending my cancellation via letter at the end of the year if the Toob build is in as expected. I'm reading more and more about people being billed still, yet a letter should be pretty concrete.

I did forget to say they stated I have one final bill payment on 14th Feb of about £46, they do send you an email about your cancellation ie this,"We’re sorry to hear you’re leaving us on Wed 14 Feb. As a last hurrah, we want to make sure your disconnection is as smooth as possible. You’ll find everything you need to know over on our help page,".
They should send you a prepackage box for the return of superhub after contracts ends.

Standard VM cancel dance. I had the same nearly 18 months ago, due to play the game again next month.

But this time I think I will actually cancel... Having just had an altnet install 1Gb symmetrical full fibre for £29pm (3 months free) :D

She got a call yesterday for a package they wanted to charge at £70 for £32 pm, I mean what a joke. They've also said she can't have more than 12 devices as that's causing her Wi-Fi issues. I have a feeling they've upsold WiFi Max as pods are being sent to her, so will be heading over later this week to drop in a spare Linksys MX4200 and turn off the wifi to start with. Ultimately Unifi Express option being considered when released to the UK or a spare pfsense box with the Linksys. If they have upsold Wi-Fi max, that will be cancelled.

There was a firewall and AP setup working perfectly there last year, but Virgin advised her to remove it so she did. She's since be told anything Virgin say, give me a call first!

Toob due in my area at the next contract dance and it'll be a bye this time. Although I expect consolidation in the market more with the alt net providers. Either amongst themselves or into Virgin/EE/Vodafone etc.

Just had this email drop into my inbox

You let us know you're interested in Ultrafast Full Fibre, and we wanted to touch base with an update. We’ve added your area to our build plans and we’re on course to deliver Ultrafast Full Fibre to ************ by Mar/2024.

And BT Open Reach are out on my road

nice, Im currently paying £21 for 135mb , I dont need super fast speeds 100mb is more than enough for me but not looking forward when it ends so having FTTP options would make life easier

How are EE? Our area is fttp enabled as of very recently. I haven’t heard many comments regarding ee fttp. We can get bt etc but hoping for a symmetrical service
