Virgin Media Discussion Thread

True. But they're Chinese if that's a concern, and isn't the controller cloud only, or am I mistaken there?
The controller is local and cloud, I have found it very good, its very stable, reviews show its just as fast as Unifi. Disclaimer, I have no experience of Unifi stuff, I know people love it, not saying don't go that route, just offering TP Link as a legitimate cheaper alternative.

We keep getting the green screen of death (Hard disk drive failing) on our Virgin TV TIVO 360 box. If we get a replacement, will it:

a) Be another TIVO 360 box the same or something newer?
b) Will it come with the big update forced on us where we have to have the new look menu system and all that?
c) What about our other TIVO 360 box in another room? Will that stay as is?

Virgin are really a complete shower of ****. I paid my balance on the 3rd of October, I have a confirmation number for this, yet the website still claims it's not paid and stuck another 15 quid on it. I moved out in June and have been trying to sort since then. I can't believe the level on incompetence. I asked for a supervisor call back last week and still nothing. Sent in a web form today, see if this gets ignored too.

Does anybody use a mesh system with their VM? I have 1gb with a hub 5 and currently using google wifi but it’s not great and was looking for something a bit sturdier and what offers WiFi 6, what do people recommend?

I use eero pro 6, been solid. though I use it with an older VM hub that’s in modem mode, sounds like new vm hub can’t do modem mode?

Yeah as above the 5 can which I have, I am leaning towards UniFi but would need to save up, for the time being I’ve managed to grab a Netgear Orbi 760 series twin pack second hand for £130 which I will setup tomorrow and see how that goes.

Anyone on VM having problems this morning? Getting really bad spells of packet loss,

(I've rebooted everything, etc, issue is on all my devices (mix of wired and wireless)

Uurrgh, here we go again, just about to start the merry go round of calls to VM to try get the best renewal price on my BB. We had open infra round here 6 months back trying to sign everyone up for fibre, but when I check their website today they no longer seem to be installing in my area which is annoying because I would have either gone with them or at least used them as a stick to beat VM with.

Couldn't be bothered to do the song and dance routine too much this time.... went from £72-80 roughly each month for the whole package ie max tv and movie channels, 1gig bb, 2x boxes, telephone line, o2 etc and btsports package now on £92 per month.

They wanted £175 per month from £72-80 otherwise.

Could I have done better?

I’m about to have Virgin fibre 1gb installed with the 5x router in 2 weeks.

I’m well aware of the appalling customer service thanks to this thread and other forums. However, I’m going to see how it goes.

when the rep called I explained that online I can get the Blue Light discount taking it down to £38.99 per month. He said he can match that and went onto literally mumble how he would do it. I was in a rush and didn’t listen.

I’ve got my pre installation information and it states I will be paying the standard price of £40.99. Does the discount get added later or are Virgin trying it on already/ rep was misleading or hasn’t actioned what he agreed?

long time VM user (20+). so called the other day about any deal as out of contract for years, Was paying £67 for 1gb. after about 10 mins , guy offered me deal for £40. thought would have to go the cancel way.
Can't complain on this. :cry::cry:
