My amazing connection tonight.

Cable repull (2nd time round after the first time it was meant to be done but it actually wasn't!) is this Thursday, I hope it solves the issue.

They said on the phone I can only ask for money back when the fault is clear, is this right?

No it's pretty much to be expected really, it's when you're doing nothing and you see lag/packet loss that you need to be "concerned" :)

Nothing but problems from Friday with the net. Having speeds of like 0.5 tonight.

1st call to VM: (few tests, everything looks OK) (It's your PC, boot up into safe mode and try) (It's the same) (OK let me transfer you to tech support)

Tech support: We can help you with that issue, it's just going to cost you £10 a month for 24/7 support for 3 computers... (Really? Our bill is just over £100 p/m already, I know its not my PC because there are multiple in the house and they are all getting bad speeds)

Rang 6 different times (instantly got through everytime), to see if I could speak to someone English. He ran tests, checked things. Managed to get him to book a technician for Friday and also credited £13 to the account.... Sigh

I hate Virgin :(

My VM broadband connection has been literally unusable for online gaming since Thursday and it hasn't let up. It seems especially worse at peak times but it's pants all the time.

E.g. check out these ping tests:

Bear in mind that's through command prompt. Problem doesn't show up on pingtest.net. I called VM yesterday and they're sending me out a new modem. They're wasting their time though. It's obvious that this is an overutilisation issue. VM have signed up too many new customers without upgrading their network to cope. Might call BT in the morning and switch.

Well no reply from VM regarding my email.

But this is my connection, it seems a little better (ignore the red block) 2 power cuts

And last night I had 3 PS3's connected on my connection with one constantly downloading from the PSN between 7 till 8pm. Then all 3 were connected on GT5 multiplayer till almost 11pm.

(The joy of me, Gibbo, NathWraith, RJKoneill, Andrew Moore and one of our sales guys all hooked on GT5 last night - LAN style) :)

Well my connection went out for about 5hrs last night and when it came back up I noticed the IP had changed and so far the connection has been great latency wise.

Downloads seem a little off as i'm only getting 3.5mb/s on newsgroup but tbh i'm not bothered about that, latency and packet loss is what i'm bothered about atm.
