My connection was perfect again Friday and Saturday night. Now it's ramping up in latency, and getting terrible speeds again.

The box I'm on is only at 24% utilisation too! They thought it was a backbone server that was causing problems, and that was fixed, but it can't be, since I'm getting the same ramp in latency at around 8pm again.

I'm convinced the people two floor down from me are HEAVY downloads, and my connection is getting throttled. Only happened when they moved in! Also, it's smooth as Friday and Saturday night, and they like to party.

Will need to call the network manager again tomorrow, and tell him it's still broken. 5Mb isn't acceptable :(

Also, VM REALLY need to fix their account situation. Can't log into My Virgin Media since they are having "issues". Been going on for a long time now!

I mean, there's just something weird about that. Bad Thursday, and then perfect on Fri and Sat when people are out, and then poor again on Sunday! If I didn't know better, I would say they were tapping into my connection in the wall. But apparently that's not really possible.

He's using Verizon FiOS. It's pure fibre.

Also, it's a well known fact that the UK is behind the rest of the world regarding both download and upload speeds!

When I was in France in 2004/2005 they had 100 Mb back then!

Regarding my connection, spoke to the network manager again this morning, and they also noticed the poor latency last night. Still working on a fix, apparently network engineers are onto it. Let's see what happens. They have been great at trying to fix it. Almost daily contact.

I dunno but if you have 1 or 2 really heavy users on your local node that frequently cap out their 5mbit upload it can utterly destroy your connection too.

im not exactly sure the shared bandwidth but its not much about 20mbit up i think.

before they split mine it was like a ski ramp. Its already starting to get slower and we don't even have 100mbit as an option round here yet... When that happens, its jsut goign to turn to crap again

Another FTTC monitor, should live update throughout the day (will probably be downloading off and on).

Every VM connection I've used has been terrible compared, pings all over the place even off peak.

Left mines on overnight. only seem to get spikes when im doing several speedtests or last nigth later on when my sister was constant streaming on the ps3 welcam to welcam chat stuff.

Totally fine fast downloads on torrent (3.7 gig full hd tv series in the time i went for a shower) and it hasn't lagged once when online gaming so i',m very happy :D
