Virgin Media Discussion Thread

They always give you a better package if you use all their services, both Virgin and Sky. You can press them as well, sometimes they can give you some free installation or some other discount on the fly.

Anyone know if they'll let me keep Talk International 5 (£5 for 240min then 10p/min) and still upgrade my main package to Big Bang/Big Kahuna?

The missus can make up to 2-3 hours of calls to the parents in Spain a month so moving to the latest Talk International (£2 plus 10p/minute) would add £20 to the bill per month :(

I've had virgin in my first house for a couple of months now, obviously with plastering and decorating I've had to turn the power off to downstairs a couple of times.

The problem being when power is restored the SH2 will not give me any wireless, I sorted it last time by rebooting and turning off wireless, rebooting, turning on wireless but this time I can't get anything out of it.

Just done a factory reset of the SH2 and there still isn't any wireless, neither of the 2.4 or 5ghz blue lights are on.

Have I got a duff router?

Well it's certainly broken now. Just call them up and they'll either send you a new one or send a tech round to check it out with a new SH in his van.

I'm having issues with mine this morning. Got up to find my router off and the fuse box tripped for the sockets the power brick seems to be dead.

I've swopped it out and it is now working but i am getting no upload at all but full download.

I've just had a call from a Lady from the Philippines, who said she worked for the outsource department of virgin media.

She offered me 152Mbs, XL Tv, and unlimited phone for £43.99 a month for the first 3 then £53.99 there after. Currently Pay £50~ for Broadband and Phone alone extra 4 quid for Tv seems a decent deal.

Has anyone heard of this outsource team?

Edit: on Hold at the moment, had the choice of music, chose classical and a piano cover of Hey there Delilah starts playing. Nought classic, im outraged.

The Big Kahuna is £45 + phone line. They do (or at least used to) use a call center in the Philippines but i'd call myself to make sure.

Even if you don't change package to add TV it's worthwhile tryingt o wangle a better price for what you have as you shouldn't be paying £50. For 152mb + phone i pay £35.99.

What's in the update?

well theres no change log but heres what I've noticed

closed the wifi security vulnerability
wireless activity lights now only flash when there is actual ul/dl activity rather than just flashing all the time when a device is connected to it
the Activity data usage summary is now fixed.

just rang virgin.

offered me top tv package sport and movies, HD tivo box, 150mb internet with phone for £76 for 3 months then £86 onwards plus free install.

i currently pay £45-£50 to virgin for phone and 120mb and £60 to sky for top package tv with sports and movies.

I told him i will give sky a ring to see about cancelling, could i get a better deal if i come back with sky offering me better?

Ive just rang up to try and take this offer but am now being told it will cost £95 for 3 months then £105 there after.

I asked the first guy i spoke to to save this offer on my account but he must not have :/

im not swapping to save £10 for 3 months, not worth the hassle.

Do they do call backs to offer you better?

I really want to punch that guy (the blogger).. His penis must be very small.

Yes the Virgin complaints handler got a few technical terms (very) wrong, but the concept is there and people generally understand the service they are being supplied with. He was offered 50/100/152Mbps and that is what he probably has..

He was blowing a trumpet up BT's bum, yet there own website advertises the same 'problem' he has "superfast fibre optic broadband" (for the FTTC service)...
