Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Hi all

Just a quick question, since upgrading from 60 to 152 I've noticed YouTube doesn't seem to buffer the video's like it did on my 60 meg. Apologies if this has been mentioned before but life is far too short to read over 300+ pages

Before I let loose on the VM forum just wondered if any one else is experiencing the same issues

My current setup is the new v2 in modem mode using a Dlink 655. Will upgrade to the asus at somepoint

'sposed to get this installed tomorrow... got a call today:

"after checks we will have to do construction work which will take 4 to 6 weeks"...

HNNG

Looks like a new Superhub will be coming out soon with wireless ac :D

It can be found on the troubleshooting page

http://help.virginmedia.com/system/selfservice.controller?CMD=VIEW_ARTICLE&ARTICLE_ID=27595&CURRENT_CMD=SEARCH&CONFIGURATION=1001&PARTITION_ID=1&USERTYPE=1&LANGUAGE=en&COUNTY=us&VM_CUSTOMER_TYPE=Cable

Even though there is nothing on the main website about it some new customers have reported on getting the new hub on the forums!
My contract has ended... I wonder how much it would cost me to change, I would prefer moderm+router and not 2 in 1 like superhub is now. The old config worked a lot better than the new superhubs, I hope it will be this same with this config :)

I had a call from virgin last night offering me the big kahuna package which i accepted last night.

I have just called back today to confirm everything as i had had a few beers last night before i took the call.

tivo box 500gb
XL tv
All Sky Sport channels
Movie channels
All HD

152mb broadband

phone line

free install

superhub 2 (not that it will be used as a router)

total is £65 for 3 months then £95 for 9 months.

i currently pay £45 for 120mb and £70 to sky for their top tv package.

saving of about £150 for 3 months then £180 over the remaining 9 months.

i called sky to cancel and they offered to cut my TV down to £56 per month bringing my total bill to £96. i didnt cancel there and then but told them i would think about it, i then called virgin back to confirm what i thought i got last night :p

Im currently on 120mb from virgin so i am pleased with the savings.

Just spent half an hour on the phone getting a replacement Superhub 2. We've got the original and the wireless range has always sucked, and it freezes the wired connection every so often. Spent twenty minutes speaking to the technical faults line arguing the toss over how it costs them £20 to post one out (he mentioned some garbage about having to do something on their end), then as soon as I got put through to retentions it was sorted straight away and it'll be delivered for free on Tuesday. He even offered us a better deal if we signed a new 12 month contract (£19.50 instead of £26.15 for 50Mb) but unfortunately as it's student rented accommodation we may not be staying here again next year.

quick question for people with all sky sport channels.

are they all in hd?

also the difference between big kahuna and big daddy channels is just sky sports and sky movies and the hd variants??

thanks, yes i am getting the HD premium too.

On my email order it says sky sports 1 and sky sports 2 but i am told the deal had all sky sports channels.

Do virgin break the channels down into 2 'packages'

Will be ringing up Virgin media sometime tomorrow to hassle them for a better deal seeing i have been a customer with them for 4years, let's see what I can get out of them.

I actually cancelled mine first (around the beginning of the 30 day notice period) as they would not give me any more discount. A few days later I got a call from Retentions who would and did give me further discount.

Got my bill for this month and instead of £14.25 it's now £30 (12 month contract has expired and they've removed my goodwill discount.

What's the number for retentions again? Need to get some bargaining going.

Just had my parents VM upgraded from 20mb to 5mb instead of 152mb...

The "engineer" re-used a 10/100 cable when connecting the new superhub after replacing the modem (which was capped to 20mb so never needed anything better) instead of using a new cat5e cable, then instead of connecting it to our n56u router in modem mode he left it as a router and connected it to the WAN.

I'd be really annoyed if I had to pay for such an installation.
