Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Don't put anything in the login/password section (untick "server requires login"). VM's servers are outsourced to Highwinds and will allow access via your VM IP address. If you still can't get on, check your logs and see what the error is (and post it here if it isn't obvious what the problem is).

You may then need to check that you have a reverse-DNS that resolves to a VM block. At that point you contact VM on their support forum and ask them to either fix your RDNS or have your IP added to the blocks recognised by the servers.

Thanks

Some more new offers been added to the bundles on top of the 12 month discount that are currently going.

Big Easy - £30 bill credit, £15 a month for 12 months then goes up to £20
Big Bang - £60 bill credit, £20 a month for 12 months then goes up to £30
Big Kahuna - £90 Bill credit, £35 a month for 12 months then goes up to £45
Big Daddy - Free Galaxy Tab 4, £80 a month for 12 months then goes up to £95
All + line rental

Apparently you can get the free Galaxy Tab with the Kahuna package as well instead of the £90 bill credit but sounds like you also need to take the addons like Sky Sports & movies to do that.

Called VM about the price increase as I'd just extended my contract for another year. They credited me with £18 to cater for the increase over the next year.

I recommend you guys do the same if you've recently taken out a new contract.

Installation date for the 5th, can't wait to finally be done with 10mb. Hope everything goes smoothly and I can be up and running straight away, running the cable in to the flat could be a bit of a mare. Fingers crossed the service in my area isn't already hugely over subscribed :D

I've just moved to a new property and I'd quite like to order the current big kahuna deal.

Unfortunately it ends this Tuesday and I need to okay it with the landlord who is away until Sept.

Is this a pretty good deal or is the consensus that another good deal will be available after this one ends?

I read this morning that BT are planning to hike phone and broadband prices by up to 6.5% over the next few months, which may mean Virgin does to. I don't want to order BT as they can only provide 20Mb where I am, whereas Virgin can do 152Mb and include a good TV package.

I'm tempted to just go ahead and order it online using Topcashback before tuesday and pick an install date of mid-september. If there's any issues I can then cancel it the first week of september before it gets installed...hmmm..

in my experience landlords dont give a **** when it comes to broadband installs, its sky dishes if there isnt already one that they might kick off over, virgin install is pretty much no difference from a BT one

Looks like the whole ntlworld.com email system is down this morning, just in case anyone is wondering - http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Email/Error-message-sending-emails-to-ntlworld-com-address/m-p/2447733#M70776

"Sorry about this, there does appear to be an outage with the ntlworld.com mail platform.

A fault has been raised for this issue, and our engineers are trying to get this fixed as quickly as possible."

Seems that this will also affect the webspace and anything else that hangs off the ntlworld domain.

It's taken them 4 hours since 8:30 this morning, to accept that there's a problem with the domain.
It was down on Monday. But it would appear that they don't have any 2nd or 3rd level support in place (or anyone with any kind of technical ability) outside of office hours.

Yeah, the landlord lives in the other part of the house so I'd like to okay everything with him, especially as it will require a hole being drilled through the wall on the front of the house.

Done :D

Now I'll just have to be nice to him when he gets back and try to find an install date that suits him. The one they allocated was 10th September, which is currently the earliest.

Apparently you can log into your My Virgin account and change the date online if necessary though, which is perfect.

Looking forward to Tivo and 152Mb :D

Now to get on the hunt for a upgraded TV to this small 20"er I'm borrowing. I'm thinking 48 or 50 maybe.... :p

Our Super Hub 2 decided to die randomly during the night. WiFi lights not coming on and connected via ethernet can't even access the router page.

Engineer coming out tomorrow to replace it, although there is no my appointments tab in my profile and I've not received an email yet.

So did mine, after doing a few resets i managed to get it up and running again

Mine keeps freezing recently, not so much dieing, as all lights stay on, but the Wifi seems to die/freeze and only a reboot fixes it, happens at least 4 times in a week but its random when it happens and nothing shows in the logs - VM have said its nothing they have heard of before and they wont send a tech out till it happens again, even then they said it wouldnt be the same day :( SH2 is a bit hit and miss.

Really liking VM 100Mb broadband after years of slow BT broadband in our last place. It's like night and day.

Got 15 quid credit added to my account the other day to cover the £1.50 price increase for the remainder of my contract. Took a couple of calls but was polite to them and voiced my concerns about a price increase 2 months into a 12 month contract.

This happens to me too but not as frequently. Wifi will suddenly drop. Although it seems to be the 5GHz radio that goes, the 2.4GHz is usually available. Happens maybe once a week or once a fortnight.

VM TiVo box question.

Anyone know where I can get football scores, fixtures, tables up quickly. My VM old box used to have a BBC text service but the new TiVo only has apps with video links but no information .. damn annoying.
