8TB?! You must spend a fortune on HD storage.

I'm surprised VM haven't just asked you to leave, you'll be costing them a small fortune in the long run.

'me me me' mentality springs to to mind, do you know how home broadband is costed? Ever heard of contention ratio?

i have 48TB nas as well as another 12TB for Xbmc

This will sound selfish, but i rely don't care what they think, if they can't afford to offer "unlimited" then don't sell it, I wouldn't be happy if i went to a all you can eat and got told stop being greedy you have eaten to much.

8TB a month? I don't believe it.

Oh dual changes things a bit, but 8TB and then 100TB claim!

I have all my favourite TV shows and movies accumulated over many years and that doesn't even consume all of the 4TB drive they reside on and I watch a lot of TV and movies :p The only thing I can think of is data hoarding.

8TB i can do without to much problems, that is a combined number from upload and download ( upload being 3.6TB)

Same here.

I want to know what he's downloading.

** Piracy is frowned upon on OcUK **

They can't tell me.

Don't get me wrong i do take the ****, last months usage was just over 8TB combined, however as far as I'm concerned i pay for unlimited so if i want to use 100TB thats my business :D

Bloody hell I don't even have 8TB of HDD storage combined with all my drives lol:D

Just got the up to 152 package installed today and linked the router to my laptop only to discover its only 10\100mbps haha gutted as its only 6 months old, should have checked the network card first! It can pull 92.4Mb\s on Speedtest.net so I guess that's the Max throughput of my network card?

Have 3 devices connected to the 5GHz Wi-Fi an LG G3 Galaxy S5 and a Hudl 2 these 3 get between 80-90Mb\s on Speedtest.net

Should the Wi-Fi aspect be quicker? I thought it would be quicker!

What router you connected to? Could be that the router is only connected to the modem at 100Mbps itself.

Its a superhub 2ac if that means much!

Wireless Frequency 5GHz

Enable Wireless Radio
Wireless Mode

Up to 54Mbps (best for wireless compatibility with older devices)
Up to 289Mbps (best for wireless range)
Up to 600Mbps (balance between range and performance)
Up to 1.3Gbps (best for wireless performance)

Channel
Auto Compatibility

Operating Channel 48+44

It is using the 3rd option of 600Mbps.

Bad analogy, there really is only so much you can eat. Consuming data doesn't affect your immediate well being.

Your attitude is very selfish, though it seems that is the world we live in, which is a pity. Myself I usually schedule my big downloads to non peak times. My monthly usage is is about 400GB, which in itself is way over the average.

I do wonder though, what do you do with all this 'data' downloaded? There are only so many hours in day...

Set it to 1.3Gbps, it won't be using 80MHz channels on the 600Mbps setting.

Using max PHY rates for settings is meant to be 'user friendly', but it's just confusing really.

Cheers, big jump in Wi-Fi Speeds!!

To the below with just the 5GHz change suggested above!

If you have the same homehub 2 as me, connect to the 5GHz band, set it to 1.3Gbps thats all I did and it jumped up loads. All depends on your wifi device and what speeds it connects at I guess.

I have just got the Big Kahuna pagage new customer with free install and £100 off.

Tivo 500GB
TV XL
152MB Internet
Extra V Box
Talk Evening & Weekends

In inc line rental @ £61.00

Moved from the full Sky pagage as I could not justify £94 a month after my offers finished.

So far I am not keen on Tivo and the whole UI feels very bloated and no where the ease of Sky and how the box functions. Only time will tell, have another 12.days before I can cancel, loving the Internet so fast!

Can anyone recommend a decent router that i can swap with the one VM give you?

Currently it has 4 Ethernet ports, one in my pc upstairs, one in my dads pc and one in the Xbox one, the 4th port is what we use to connect the NAS drive to the router.

I want to put an Ethernet cable into my smart TV in my room, one in the smart TV downstairs and also one into the spare room.

I have both TV's connected to the 5GHz wifi connection but wireless on the smart TV's are a joke.

Is there any adaptors that i can buy or is it better to buy a router with more Ethernet ports?

What equipment are you using from VM?

If it's a superhub you can't replace it as it's your DOCSIS modem. You can however run it in modem mode then run whatever router you like to do you networking along side it.

If it's the old VMNG300 + D-Link combo then you can swap the D-Link out for whatever you like but keep the VMNG300, but they haven't given those out for years now so most people won't have this setup.
