Virgin Media Discussion Thread

I never seem to get that far. Don't you actually have to threaten to leave and effectively call customer services' bluff to get put through to retentions? Is there a direct number for them?

You just go through the phone system and choose the "thinking of leaving" option. Then you get through to the UK customer service team. Basically tell them that you're thinking of switching to Sky/BT because of all their new customer deals means you'll get a much cheaper price, and what deals can they offer you to stay.

I'll give it a go tomorrow. The reality is that, whilst I can get Sky/BT fibre here, the max speeds are less than I get now, let alone after the forthcoming upgrade and I know they'll use that argument against me.

I think my main gripe is the total lack of any offer or discount for 14 years of loyalty. New customers can get the same package I'm on (100Mb plus phone line) for £9.99 for 9 months and then £22.50 yet I'm paying more than £22.50 for the broadband for some reason. That grates a lot.

Any one in the Area 21, they seemed to of changed the dates from Feb to March 2016 ? As now I got this.

Your connection speed will increase from up to 100Mbps to up to 150Mbps. It's all thanks to DOCSIS® 3 - the magic in our cables.

Due to a technical glitch we can't tell you exactly when to expect your speed boost. We're fixing that now, so please check back later.

I assume this is why my computer is connecting me to steam servers via Kazakhstan at the moment.

150ping on my favourite csgo server with no loss or variance.

get 17-18 Mb/s download consistently it's only steam I seam to have a connection issue with obviously it's more noticeable on an online game like csgo anyway .,

Virgin just keep bumping up the speeds to help sell the service which in turn saturates the lines and completely overloads the system at busy times i.e. every evening.

So damn annoying they keep doing this, my speeds and ping in the evening are all over the place yet any other time 15ms or less. They are n't interested in fixing this, its just all about the selling point of maximum speed!

Virgin were a joke when i was in uni, always slowing to a crawl in the evenings. Certainly allows them to take the **** with the 'Up to' 100Mbps.

Anyone who genuinely believes they will get 200Mbps all the time is on another planet, Virgin is plagued with congestion and this will only make it worse. :p

BT is expensive and only offers 80Mbps but it seems to be something they actually have the capability to deliver, unlike Virgin. :p

need some new powerline adapters though, they're restricting it down to 75mb. any suggestions?

I'm in area 21 and when I called they said I will be upgraded at a later date and they can't currently do it.
When I enter my postcode to check when my speed will be boosts it says:
We’ll be in touch between December 2015 and February 2016 to tell you when your speed upgrade is ready.

Dont bother with wired personally, everything wireless on the latest superhub ac is plenty quick enough.

PC has an AC adapter and maxes out the 150mb connection, waiting to see if it will max out 200mb :)
